A3 Traction in the Snow

A3 Traction in the Snow
1st snow fell the other day and it was a good dump, 15+ cm.
First time in the snow with the A3 and I was surprised that there is no obvious way to start in 2nd gear to stop wheel spin. I have new Michelin snow tires. Also couldn't find any way to turn traction control on or off. (I was in a storm and didn't pull out the manual to try and read it.)
Am I missing something obvious?

Re: A3 Traction in the Snow
You can turn traction control off via. a button on the centre console. You have to hold it down until the dash display gives you the "warning" that it's off.

Re: A3 Traction in the Snow
It might be that your giving too much gas.. Try to launch off slowly in 1st around 2000-2500 RPMs. then shift into 2nd & you might be able to shift in 3000RPM mark in 2nd
