The car's design will be slightly edgier than the current look in accordance to Audi design trends. It will still look like an A3 though.' - this is absurd. The A3 at present is one of the most boring cars on the road.

To each his own.
IMHO, AUDI A3 is a great looking hatch particularly if you like euro styling. If you want edgier go for a Japanese make.
I though A3 was out next Sept/Oct with a new model.

I hope the next gen A3 Quattro is available with a manual tranny, otherwise i might end up trading mine in for a 328xi touring.
A flat load floor with the rear seats folded would be nice too.
There's going to be a sedan version of the A3. I think that's a good move because the A4 has gotten bloated.
The A3 is the sexiest hatchback on the road. I can't see them changing the styling too much. Audi keeps a strong continuity in their styling.

The A3 update seems to have taken a back seat to the development/updating of the other models in Audi's lineup. By the time the next gen A3 becomes available the current model will be 10 years old, since it has been available in europe since 2003!
I guess we should expect the next gen in 2012 as a 2013 model.

Since we are going to see the new A3 and Golf R around the same time, I wonder if they are going to be similarly equipped... I'd love to see the new A3 line to be upgraded with a K04 turbo like the Golf R!

So do you think the 2012's will be out this April-May? When did the 2011's come to showrooms last year?
