2008 Audi A3 Automatic Transmission failure
Good afternoon peeps,
Recently purchased a 2008 Audi A3. Gentlemen who previously owned the vehicle was on the extreme side of keeping the vehicle in perfect condition. Vehicle has 323,000kms. Not a scratch, dent or aftermarket part on the vehicle. It's in showroom condition. Only serviced at Audi. I purchased the car really cheap knowing that the vehicle goes into limp mode caused by the transmission failing. This is the question I have for the experienced members: The twin clutch transmissions on these vehicles can be quite expensive. I don't mind spending the $3,000 - $4,000 to rebuild it but after reading online, these gearboxes look problematic. Do I roll the dice on a used one or rebuild the one I currently have? I don't believe everything I read online, I would rather get some input from current members. I had the vehicle scanned and the problems read are: Gear 1 slipping Gear 2 slipping Gear 3 Slipping. Vehicle drives fine until it warms up then it locks into gear 2 or 3 and stays until I turn the vehicle off and restart it. It appears the transmission just needs clutch's but you never know until you open it up. Does anybody know someone with a good used transmission? Any help would be much appreciated:D |
