2008 A3 Light Switch
Hello there,
I got a stupid question, but I have to ask cause this had be bothering me for a while ha ha
I recently purchase the 2008 A3, love the ride but Iam not sure what one of the light switch is for.
There is 3 options.
O this turn on my day light - no problem
=D this turn off my day light & turn on my low beam and all the light inside the car ( dashboard, cd player, gear shift etc) - also no problem.
but the switch that looks like =OO= does nothing, this mode is same as O only the day light comes on.
I've been searching online, Iam guessin it could be a back fog or some function that I dont have since Iam in North America.
does anyone own a 2008 A3 know what that =OO= is for?
plz let me know so I can sleep at night. =)
Thanks in advance

Hey Ivan,
Nice use of "=" & "D" to make the little icons!
I have a TT which is pretty much the same switch:
O
Off. (In Canada this will still leave the DRL's on.)
=D
On. Dipped beam/main beam headlights.
=oo=
Side Lights/Parking lights. (In Canada this will still leave the DRL's on.)
Fog lights are activated by turning the switch to the =D position and then pulling the switch out toward you. It will only pull out toward you in this position. (It would pull out a second position if we had rear fog lamps in North America.)
The attached image is a diagram of the switch for Europe.

Re: 2008 A3 Light Switch
Hello ivan
I'll try to explain my idea.
1- key in it's place and engine OFF :
O nothing happens
turn the switch =OO= and then you will see the light of dashboard, cd player, gear shift are ON and if you're outside your car, you'll see only the orange lights on your bumper and red lights behind (sorry for this expression). This fonction is for our safety, we can see all the light inside the car and the other drivers can see our car in the parking or at the roadside. Now, if you start the engine, all the light inside the car turn OFF and it's normal. Assuming that it is night, and you've left the light =OO= ON for your passenger, then you come back to your car and you start the engine. if the dash light is always turned on, you will not know if your low beam is OFF or ON.
For this reason, =OO= seems to have no function when the engine is running.
the explanation is not very clear, but if you try this tonight you'll understand what I wrote.

Hey guys,
Thanks for replying, much appreciate; too bad Iam at work now.
I will try it out asap once I get home, aside from that I think all
the 2009 model look sweet, especially putting the the R8 LED lights.
Also the A1 looks good too, it looks like a car you would see in movie such
as I-robot or AI haha.
Cheers guys, Thanks again
