Default Switching winter tire size on A3

I have an A3 with a 2.0 litre engine. I have 18" wheels in the summer but recently changed to 16" wheels for the winter. I went from 225/40/18 to 205/55/16. The recommended tire pressure on my summer setup is 42 lbs. Does anyone know what the tire pressure should be with my winter setup?

You did the right thing in switching to a smaller size for winter.

Lower pressure will also improve winter grip about 32lbs

More precise recommendations for you car will be found under the fuel filler lid or driver door jamb

Thanks for replying. Unfortunately, the door jam only shows the tire pressure for the original tires (225/40/1 but I know some of the A3s came with 16" wheels so there must be a recommended tire pressure available. I wrote to Audi but never got a reply.

My dealer usually puts 34 or 35 psi in my winters (16's) on my A3.

Thanks JSC. I'll give that a try and see what my handling is like on dry and snow.

I put 32psi on my winter tires for my previous 350Z. I think that's best grip for comfort and handling. Any lower it's too squishy, any higher it slides too much.

+1 on switching to smaller size, makes a huge difference.
