The 'extras' after purchasing A3

I've just 'done the deal' on a new A3 (with many optional extras) which is apparently on the back of a transporter on it's way to Montreal from somewhere in Ontario.

As the dealer said "Won't take long to prepare as long as it doesn't arrive damaged"......mmmm, does that mean the guy on the transporter presses the wrong button and turns my A3 into a convertible? Not very reassuring.

Would like to know from anyone who's gone through the same experience if the 'options' are really worth it? I'm considering:

Tinted windows (apparently factory fitted side and rear windows are 70%, whatever that means). Am I going to microwave myself in summer if I don't get darker tints?
AudiCare - if it DOES cost $1200 (quoted) for servicing, $750 seems to be a good deal and I prefer taking my Audi to Audi anytime.
Sherlock - nice if you get the $300 back off the insurance premium.
Paint protection - is it really work $329 when I can buy a bottle of wax from Canadian Tire for $20?
Remote starter - $700 seems to be a lot to pollute the environment and burn gas unnecessarily.

Would appreciate any advice.

Thanks everyone :)

If the warranty and paint protection will make you sleep better at night then get it. As far as tinting goes, the higher the percentage the more light gets through. 5% is limo tint and 70% will barely block anything.

i dont think u need the remote starter...
u can put in a cheaper version for 1/2 th price and sitll do the same job.

i dont even know wht the heck Sherlock is...
so i'd probably nix that too

i bought the paint & leather protection, and i got the audi care for free ;)

I used to sell cars (for Honda) and I can tell you that fabric protection (a can of 3M spray from Canadian Tire), paint protection (wax) and rust protection (nobody knows what that sludge is) are a total ripoff. As a salesman I received BIG commission for selling this snake oil. Now I have to live with the guilt... take this as my penance. Don't do it!

One thing I would recommend thinking about is a 3M's stoneguard/clear bra or a similar product.

I can't stress how many times it's saved the front of my car, now if only they could do windshields.

All of those can be done for a lot less money. Remote starter? You don't need it. Audi Care is a good idea.

My TT's finish was treated with a glaze from the dealer, and while it seems expensive it has really lasted and the car is really easy to clean. Bugs and grime come off easily and it always looks freshly waxed. After 4 years water readily beads up, I have never waxed it.

The rest of the stuff is drivel (IMO), Audi's come so well equipped they need no options.
My 2 cents worth.
Good Luck

The only option I went with was the 3M protection... everything else wasn't worth the money to me. I'm getting all of my windows tinted from a 3rd party as their quoted cost was over 50% cheaper than what the dealership wanted to charge me (and they wouldn't do the fronts),
