Best Motor Oil for '06 A3 2.0T DSG
 

Does anyone know the best synthetic oil to use on my the A3? Best weight? I currently use Amsoil 5W-40 European Full Synthetic Engine Oil.

Since no one has answered you yet I am assuming you looked up some of the other oil threads and you recieved your answer.

In the event you haven't then yes the oil you are using is good as long as it has the VW rating on the back. I have used Lubro Moly and will probably try Royal Purple next only because it is readily available.

Do you do your own oil changes and if so what method do you use? I started doing my own and have found that the extraction method is the fastest and cleanest way for me.

I have always been told to use Castrol from the dealership , does anyone really think another oil would be that much superior given they meet the required standards?

It could be that the dealerships have a deal or contract with Castrol or it just happens to be the cheaper oil. It may not be the best oil out there just what the dealership uses for whatever reason.

Check out this oil review. They did not mention Castrol as the best for Audi.

On September 11th come out and get your oil changed for free. Just the cost of the oil and filter

I have not seen anything that would substantiate that Mobil 1 is not good. There are some personal opinions but nothing that would corroborate that opinion.

I've been running on Amsoil 5w-40 and after 1000km my engine sounds and feels great! Of course it also helps that I've been running on 94 octane from Petro Canada, also changed my fuel filter and installed a Carbonio intake and filter.

I'll probably try Motul next since this oil since to be the common oil best used for audi's
