For those who have not yet seen the pictures.

There three weeks ago at CES in Las Vegas, Audi introduced the interior of the next generation (3rd) 2013 Audi A3.

Very nice, with a retractable screen, Audi is incorporating its touchpad technology (from the A6, A7 and A8) directly into its Audi Connect technology (Multi Media Interface - MMI) control knob. You can also see the images (black and white) from the outside of the future A3.

The next generation A3 will be presented at the Geneva Auto Show next March. It should only be available in four-door sedan for North America (a small A4). The three and four door hatchback version will be only available in Europe ! ? ! ?

It's hard to wait to see it.

Few months ago I was debating with myself if I should wait until 2013 A3 came out but I also saw that it was not to be available in a hatchback style here. I have bought 2012 A3 with no hesitation, as I was looking for a hatchback car, not a sedan. So, no regrets on my side.
2013 A3 does look pretty sleek, no doubt!

Same for me, I bought a 2012 Audi A3 in the month of October. With a dog and leather seats, the hatchback is perfect (with barriers in the trunk). I am very happy with my choice as well.

But the A3 style was outdated and needed to be updated. To view images from within and we see the difference.

interior looks very nice although I dont like that the A3 doesnt get a sport steering wheel.. RS3 Steering wheel alone costs-$1700 with air bag, R8 GT Steering Wheel with Carbon Fiber- 3 Grand with air bag.. lol

Is it confirmed that there would be no hatchback in the U.S/Canada market or is it just a rumor ?

Because it would absolutely ruin my plans for a new Audi in 2013.

Thank you!

" The 2014 Audi A3 appears to be a cool and classy-looking luxury ride. But if you’re hankering for a hatchback, you’d better not wait for the new model. The next A3 is coming to the U.S. only in sedan format, whereas the 5-door hatchback continues to be offered in Europe. Rubbing some salt in the wound is the fact that the A3 sedan is arriving only after the hatchback goes on sale in other markets. "

One of the many article dealing with the news. But nothing official yet, Audi may reverse its decision, but it would be surprising.

Here's Why I bought the 2012 version.

You may find the hatch in Canada. AUDI US and Audi Canada are not the same. Canada has always had a good market for hatchbacks. eg Mercedes B200 in Canada but not USA.

I sure hope you are right, because even looking at the A4 hatch or the upcoming A4 allroad, with their lack of DSG transmission, overall I find them really less attractive than the A3 hatch, and I can't really change vehicule until summer of 2013.

By the way thank you for the answer. It brings some hope back.
