I love my new 2011-A3, except for the cheap non-auto-dimming rear view mirror (interior). Everything else about the car is good quality, I'm disappointed that Audi doesn't have auto-dimming mirrors as standard equipment (and if there was an option for an auto-dimming mirror, I missed it...)
1- Does anyone know if Audi makes an auto dimming mirror for the A3?
2- Does anyone have experience with after market auto-dimming mirrors? I read a lot of good about Gentex mirrors. Anyone know how easy it would be to install?
3- Is it too much trouble? Should I just forget about it?

I agree. The mirror is cheap. Not up to the standard of the car. Would also like to find a better one.

I believe the S3 had a factory auto-dimming rear-view mirror. It's also possible to retrofit any OEM Audi mirror, but you'd need to check out some wiring diagrams to see if it would fit your wiring harness. Although, hardwiring a mirror right into the switched 12V under the dash would be simple enough.
