Winter Tires for Q5

Re: Winter Tires for Q5
I just purchased the Pirelli Scorpions for my Q5, should have them within the week and will get them on asap and provide some feedback over the winter. I think both the Bridgestone and Pirelli are fine and I went with the Pirelli's based on reviews of both (both seemed great however seemed to be a few more negative ratings with the Bridge but may just have had more reviews) and that I have owned Pirelli's before and loved them

Re: Winter Tires for Q5
I am also looking at winter tires in TireRack.com for the first time. I am very confused with the discussion of offset and measurement in the earlier posts.
Can I simply pick any wheels and tires shown on the site after I pick Q5 as my vehicle in TireRack.com? Or do I need to know all the specifications of the wheels to pick the right one for the car?
Many thanks in advance!!!
Michael

Re: Winter Tires for Q5
Michaeltkc........I phoned the Tirerack last Nov with year / vin, selected both tires and wheels for my 2010 and had the exact same concerns about specs etc. Not only did they recommend which tire and wheel (higher speeds here and alot of mountain driving for skiing and snowshoeing for us) they provided lugs specific for the wheel then had them delivered right to the front deck of our house in 5 days. Mounted and balanced I adjusted the air pressure, installed the winters on a very snowy day and went dashing through the snow noting the traction and improved stopping power.

Re: Winter Tires for Q5
I echo Warcity and Mikeh's comments above, once you select the vehicle they only show tires/wheels that will fit.
Mine arrived yesterday (so ordered on 21st and arrived 27th) and all needed hardware is included (at no extra cost) as well as the balancing (as they are 18's I bought wheels as well).
Dont have mine on yet as we are just starting our summer it seems in Calgary, but as soon as on will post a pic and also once they get some solid use I will update on how they are.
ps Mikeh, I am jealous, that is the snow I want to see here so I can play in the mountains

Re: Winter Tires for Q5
I paid $960 with taxes so with the $60 rebate, it'll be $900 even. Here is the link for the rebate---> Link
Overall, the price came out to $1740 CAD with installation/mounting included.
Thanks Warcity for the local dealer recommendation.
