Default Which winter tires?

Heys guys,

I have a 2006 A4 with Unitronic stage 1+. I am looking to get a set of 17" winter tires. I think I am going to buy through tire rack, right now I am looking at the General Altimax Arctic, blizzak WS70 or the Continental Extreme weather contact. Does anyone have experience with these tires? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had the Conti's last year and didn't like them very much. Not enough grip for me. I'm going to try the Nokian Hakkapelitta R's this year. Have heard very good things about the Hakka's from quite a few friends.

Blizzaks have poor tread life.

How poor, do you know how many km you would roughly get on a set?

Any other recommendations? thanks

Its difficult to say how many Km's you would get, depends on your driving habits and temperature. If it is warm the soft tread will wear quicker than blistering cold. Don't get me wrong Blizzak's are a good tire they just wont last that long.

Take a look at Nokian hakkapeliitta, or Gislaved Nordfrost

I was advised the Dunlop Winter Sport 3D would perform well with my S4. I enjoyed my summer Dunlops in the past.... anyone with experience with the winter Dunlops?
