Winter Tire Kit from Audi

Re: Winter Tire Kit from Audi
Merci mais ouach,
Moi je suis a Boisbriand, St. Bruno c'est la planete mars pour moi...
What is really annoying is that not all Audi dealers offer the same tires and packages. Lauzon in Laval is a great dealership, but they only offer Pirelli tires and nothing else. I am tempted to pick up my car and have my winter tires installed at another dealership that offers more choices, but the problem is that I will have to navigate the streets in mid-December on a car with 19 inch high performance summer tires.

Yes St Bruno is a bit far from Boisbriand..it seems that all the Audi dealers should offer a special.
The FLYER I received in the mail a little over a month ago..mind you if came from Les Automobiles Niquet quoted $1600 for an A4 2009+ it says different dealers may offer different tires.
In 2008 I also bought a tire special from the same dealer..they were SEMPERIT tires (made in Germany by Contintal), great tire.
On another post I noticed Marangini tires (Italian)...the google review look good.
Here is a copy of my flyer: sorry,I can't upload the flyer.
Good luck with your shopping.

Re: Winter Tire Kit from Audi
new twist, a buddy of mine who works as the service
manager at an audi dealership told me "why spend $2000 on 16' mags and tires when
you can just get 4 19' winter tires and keep the same mags, that's what i do and i never downgrade tire size"
Interesting

Yes that is an alternative.
On my 2005 A4 (17" mags + tires) that is what I did, kept the same mags and just changed tires twice a year BUT the mags looked like **** when I traded the car last August...mounting and demounting twice a year plus living 5 years of winter usage.
My other vehicle also has mags that I store during the winter and use a separate winter wheel (not a mag). The vehicle is a 2001 and the original mags still look fantastic.
Another thought,,check out the price of a 19 inch tire for your Audi, there are not too many marks avail and they are quite expensive. I went thru the excerise and found that by buying a 17" tire and wheel pkg is was about the same price as buying just 19' tires.
For me it is cheaper to go with a set of 17" mags and tires because being mounted I change them myself spring and fall.
Please let me know after you check the price of the 19 inch tires.
17" tires are cheaper and you have more choice and specials.
Good luck.

Re: Winter Tire Kit from Audi
I assuming the tires on a A5 are slightly bigger - the car seems wider, so that should explain the price difference. I hope however that $2695 includes taxes

Re: Winter Tire Kit from Audi
Having winter tires (but only 1 set of rims) vs having dedicated wheels and tires.
Cost to change wheels only: free (if DIY) or about $30 + tax at the dealer
Cost to have tires mounted / wheels balanced: about $120
2 changes per year - $60/yr vs $240/yr = $160 difference/year.
Keep an eye out on kijiji for a used set of wheels for the winter. Unfortunately I don't think wheels for older Audis (B5/6/7) have the right centre bore for the B8. Here's a thread: http://forums.audiworld.com/showthread.php?t=2725736
Or try www.simplytire.com. I bought 16" steelies for the GTI (yes I put steelies on a Mk6 GTI and I think it looks hot!) from them and they were competitive, friendly and helpful.
The winter PDF thing is here: http://www.simplytire.com/winter/audipdf.pdf.
Their cheapest package for the B8 A4 is $1030 on 17" RS4 reps or $1300 with Gislaved Nordfrost 5's which I have and they're a great tire. I got a quote for delivery within Ontario and was about $150 IIRC.

You got a good price from Niquet. The Wheel / Tire combo at Park-Avenue in Brossard is $2000, but the tires are Dunlops.
