Don't know why. I know that Tire rack will offer a narrower tire width provided the load rating meets Audi's minimum requirements ...

Pirelli, Bridgestone and Michelin all sell a 225/45/18 that have load ratings that are between 93-97 (which is in the range of what we need) and speed ratings of H-V.

I couldn't get a 225 18 that had the proper load rating. I didn't want to go down to a 17 for aesthetics.

If you're in Ottawa, Ottawa Tires Direct can put together any package for you which subsequently ends up on their website.
Thanks for posting the results.!!

I have a 2010 S-line A4 manual with the 19" wheel package. I haven't started to look for snows yet so I don't really know what is available in 19" snow tires, if any. Should I switch to 18" wheels with snows for the winter or look for 19" snow tires.

Advice, please!!

Thanks,

J. Alan

A smaller wheel/ tire with narrower contact patch is best for traction in the slippery stuff. Do a search on this and you'll get tons of info ... bottom line is that you'll have better traction and save $$'s going to a smaller setup. I'm going with 215/50/17s for winter and my summers are 255/35/19's ...

Adam, thanks for the tip. I am leaning towards Blizzaks.

Consumers says they are better on ice and also quieter. Anyone comment?

The packages available on their website are packages that previous customers put together. If you want your own package, call them. They'll publish the new package on their website for everyone including yourself to purchase.

Ottawa Tires Direct said that they can get any wheel available on the TireRack website. Do your shopping on TireRack and then call OTD to get their price.

For example, I designed the package I bought because I wanted RS4 reps with Dunlop 3Ds after lots of research.

I dropped in to my favorite tire dealer today to get some advice regarding snows for the A4. He recommended Blizzards ( they are a great snow tire - I have them on the wife's Benz for the last 3 years with excellent results) with 18" wheels. Blizzards are also available in 19" so I can change them every spring and fall on the Audi OEM rims without purchasing new wheels. Pass experience has shown me that the bi-yearly tire swap is hard on the rims no matter how careful the installer is. Also winter, sand, salt, stones, etc. have adverse effects on the appearance. So I am thinking of buying an attractive set of new wheels with snows mounted so all I do is the wheel and tire swap in my heated garage every spring and fall. This also gives me a chance to properly clean and polish the wheels, inside and out, during the swap. I am still not 100% sure about purchasing 18" or 19" snows and wheels (of course the 19" size will be costlier, but not by that much). I really like the way the 19" combo fills the Audi wheel wells.
Whatever I do, I won't be buying costly BBS or another set of OEM wheels. There are some very attractive designs at reasonable cost that would suffice for our short winters (I live in Kelowna, B.C.).

Hey Audi people - any advice regarding attractive wheels at a reasonable cost with correct offset?? Pictures or links would be appreciated.

Winter is coming!!!

J. Alan

P.S. : If anyone has a spare set of OEM Audi 18 or 19" wheels you have swapped out and want to sell, let me know. No curb rash or dings, please.

Thanks in advance!

Like I said, I ended up buying locally in Ottawa.

That being said, I would have shipped to the UPS Store in Ogdensburg. I believe it's this one.
