Default Lowering suspension

Hi you all,

Last year i broke a front coil spring on my 01 TT. Since i was about to change a coil i decided to change all four and replace them with Eibach coils and replace the shocks with Koni Yellows.... which lowered the car by about an inch. Looked great. On top of it, I purchased 18 inch wheels and new mags....

The car look great.

Last week, my dealer discovered that my tires wear was pronounced on the front and that the car needed an alignment. The car is in the shop today and i get a call back. They say the CAN'T align the car within specs due to the fact the car has been lowered. They have brought the alignment as close as they could but can align it perfectly. They are proposing to replace the coils back with Audi coils to fix the problem !!!

Am i taken for a ride ?

I love the look of the lowered car but i sure don't want to have to replace tires prematurely.

Thanks for your help.

Marc

Default Re: Lowering suspension

There are plenty of cars that have been lowered and have had alignments done. I do understand that whenever the cars suspension gets worked on such as lowering a new alignment should be done.

As for the dealerships suggestion that they replace coils back to OEM sound a little fishy to me. definetely get another opinion on that one. My car has been lowered and different suspension put on by a dealership and it wasn't a problem.

Default Re: Lowering suspension

Once you lower it getting it aligned to factory specs gets tough and the lower you go the tougher it is.
You can get camber plates that allow for the lowered suspension and get it back to spec.

Try 034 Motorsport or 2Bennett Audimotive for the camber plates.
