Default Winter wheels for a 2000 4.2L?

Hello everyone,

Just picked up a 2000 4.2L and am now starting to plan/acquire the required accessories to bring it up to snuff and/or prepare it for the next several years. What's everyone running as winter wheels? What OEM wheels fit and which don't? There's a set of the 16x7 8-spoke wineglasses from the 2.8/2.7T's on craigslist for a decent price but according to ETKA the offset on those wheels is ET45. Am I likely to run into brake clearance issues with those wheels? Thanks for any help or suggestions offered!

use the search tab to search out winter tires. There are several threads related to this subject. I am sure you will find the answers.

My question is regarding actual wheel fitment, not tires, and a search turns up effectively no info on wheel fitment for the 4.2. Of course it also returns zero entries for "winter tires 4.2" as well. If the search function had returned the info I'm after I wouldn't have asked the question....

Sorry to make assumptions however it usually takes new members some time to get use to the site and the different functions.

As I've heard the winters in Vancouver could be very demanding on the wheels=> choose wisely!

No worries, I'm a moderator and administrator on several boards myself.... I know the frustration!

Despite your sarcasm, your statement is actually completely true. There's not many other places in this country were your winter tires must perform equally in torrential rain at just above freezing and snow/ice on mountain hwy's down well into the negatives. As mentioned before, tire choice and season is not the issue. The question is purely about wheel offset on the 4.2L. Thought I might get some useful info given that this is a Canadian board but apparently not so much....

Try tirerack for wheels that fit. Once you have specs, you'll be in a better position to determine what will and what wont fit.
