One thing I 100% agree with is the screen is small. Should be at least 8 inches. I mean even Toyota is larger. BMW is wide screen and much larger.
i'd hate to compare it like this too, but having just moved here and in search of a car - it's hard not to. the toyota we had back home had a huge screen and every car in the lineup had built-in navs as standard. no one in japan will buy a car without a nav... almost as unthinkable i guess as cars without power windows.

the small screen is also visually ugly. the bottom left corner and the top right corner (if i remember correctly) both have about 3cm of tolerance until they reach the corners. it just looks like they've cheapened out. "almost there but not quite so" kind of feel.

Can't argue with a good point. I agree.

Might be late to this thread but I have the Nav and was lost the other day in Springbank (nothing like getting lost in your own city) and was close to being late to meet my wife as it was. Popped in the addy into the Nav and was out of there and able to tell my wife exactly when I would be there.

Is it worth the $$$$? It sure was worth not hearing my wife complain of me being late

Also side note that when looking at purchasing a few months ago the GLK, Volvo 60 Infiniti FX45 were in the running (I liked the Audi, GLK, FX45 then Volvo in order, wife liked Volvo, Audi, GLK, FX45) and one of the things that sold her on the Audi was the Nav system in the Volvo is one of the most frustrating experiences ever (cant operate while in motion for one which is stupid as there is no reason not to allow a passenger to enter data while moving in the Nav).

Not saying we bought the Audi because of Nav (obviously not) but when you start looking at luxury cars, details matter and the Nav and many other "little" things in the Q5 make enough of a difference to sway when its close.

Usability and thought of design are important and I think Audi has thought this rig through (to show I'm not biased though the FX is a beauty inside and I prefer its backup camera and that you can touch lock the doors from the trunk as well as the passenger doors)

Its interesting cuz I test drove the exact same cars minus the FX. Figured the FX is more in the Q7 class and the EX35 u don't like. I agree Volvo's navi is crazy how you can't input while driving. At least Audi gives a disclaimer and let's you move on.

Being able to lock the doors from the trunk would have been nice but at least you can open/close the trunk while the rest of the car is locked. I'm sure you know this already but if not you can configure it in the MMI.

ya agree the 45 is more in the Q7 class but we looked at it as the 35 couldn't tow and we wanted a vehicle that could allow us to tow the tent trailer. true on the open trunk feature, another well thought out feature

IMO It's about 500 dollars over priced but well worth it.
