Default Audi Drive Select

I've test driven both the GLK and the Q5.

The GLK delivers a quiet smooth ride, but the interior styling is bland when compared to the Q5, or any Audi for that matter. I must confess, however, that I do like the exterior styling....go figure.

The Q5 on the other hand has the nicest interior I've ever seen, but its ride is quite choppy on anything but the smoothest of roads...and in Atlantic Canada our city streets and secondary roads are anything but smooth.

I'm wondering if the Audi Drive Select option would help to any appreciable degree if the 'comfort' mode were selected?

I tried to post this query earlier but the system went sideways on me. Hopefully I won't end up double posting.

I would ask the salesperson to check the tire pressure before the test drive. As per Audi's PDI, tire pressure is set at 45 to 50 psi, mainly because vehicles tend to sit for days without moving, this avoids flat spots.
Tell him/her your dilemma, he should comply, if he wants a sale

Regarding ADS, the suspension setting includes comfort and dynamic ride. In comfort, the vehicle will feel the same as one without ADS. So you won't gain anything by getting it.

Thanks for your suggestion and prompt reply.

I'd really like to make the Audi work for me, but the ride is a deal breaker as my wife finds it quite uncomfortable.

If you are looking to smoothe out your ride with ADS, don't waste your money. afretes is 100% bang on.

Thanks GenSpec

Does anyone else reading this thread find that the ride is choppy?

This is the first time i've read about a choppy ride from the Q5. I loved my demo ride with it and we do not lack bad roads in the montreal region.

Dont know what you like about the GLK exterior as it is so square looking.

Afretes : is there such a thing as a Q5 not moving for a long period?

If you are referring to them sitting at our lot and not selling, we don't have that problem. In fact we can't get enough of them. I wish we could though.

I'm keeping an open mind about the ride. And the good news is that my wife also wants to experience the ride again. I'll work with my local Audi dealer to take another test drive. This time I'll check the tire pressure before we leave the dealership.

WRT the exterior of the GLK; I agree with jlr_1303, it is indeed square looking. But for whatever reason I find it appealing. I always give them a second look when I notice them on the road. Mercedes seems to have less of a problem with inventory than Audi since I see a lot more GLK350s than Q5s in Halifax.

If you like square looking, maybe nissan cube would do

My brother works at Esso in Darmouth as a chemical ing., which is not too far from where you live i guess.

When I bought my Q5 i narrowed my choices down to 2 cars and GLK was the other. Beware gas consumption. Also remember the GLK doesn't even come with "leather seats" unless you pay lots of money to add it on top. There is no technology package, lots of things missing in that car that the Q5 offers.

Cheers.
