Any recommendations for sat nav refurb in UK?

My A3 SatNav system has died. It does not respond to the 'on' switch. The VAG Com message is not particularly helpful indicating a communication problem (which could mean just about anything). I know it is not the switch / dash unit by the handbrake as that was speculatively replaced by the dealer outside of my cost. The next suggestion is to replace the CD unit in the boot - at over £1200 cost (if it works). I am looking for suggestions on how to get the unit renovated - anyone got any ideas? The boot unit has power as the CD can be ejected / reloaded. BBA-Reman are just getting into the market so I might go with them.
