Selling Terms...

Hello there, I've posted my TT on free online classifieds and quickly got interest. But this is the guy's second e-mail: "Thanks for the prompt response. I would definitely love to come and check this car out myself but I stay in the UK and I work as a sailor. I will like to see more pictures (engines inclusive) as I won't be there in person to check it out. You don't need to worry about how to get it over here as I will be sending my shipping company to come and pick it up. $16900 is a good price for the car and I don't mind paying it but I'ld appreciate it ifyou can go a little lower can on the price? I will not be able to make wire transfers here offshore so I will be making payment through paypal. If this is ok by you, kindly send me the address of the location of the car as I will need to send it to my shipping company to get a shipping quote." What I don't understand is why he would spend the money shipping it from Western Canada to the U.K.? And there is plenty on TTs there. I sent an e-mailing asking why he wants it from here. But I don't know a thing about paypal. Or selling a vehicle. Does this seem legit or does the story sound a little bogus? What's your input? Thanks,

Thanks. The big story seemed a little fishy. But isn't paypal legit? Or do they "pay" you after they pick up the car?

I'm sure the story would always change, there be some excuse.
"Oh there's something wrong with my account, can I wire transfer the money." etc

Unless I had a certified cheque from a reputable bank or cash in hand...I wouldn't let the car out of my sight.

Paypal won't protect you. Google paypal scam or something similar.

If it smells funny it probably is. Listen to the posts above and walk away. Seriously, how many people shop for used cars in different continents. Also I'm 100% sure that you can make wire transfer from the UK.

Yeah big time scam, paypal usually keeps a portion of the money on that amount until the other party inspects the vehicle, then when it is shipped there already the guy calls up pay pal and tells them the car wasnt what he expected therfore you not getting your full price and pay pal giving him some of his money back.

I learnt it the hard way but my saying is "if you cant shake hands to make a deal then there is no deal"
