Default 2001 S4 Ottawa CHIPPING

Hey everyone,

Just wondering if anyone had any idea who/where in Ottawa, Ontario does chipping for Audi S4's. I was hoping to get some chipping done before winter, but can't find who does it in my area.

Thanks in advance,

What's the advantage of APR vs Tapp's eurodyne???

I'm looking to get something done when spring comes around, and regardless of what information can be provided to me about APR and Eurodyne, I'd like feedback from someone familiar with it beforehand.

Chris Tapp is local and has a great product. Plus if you go with the Maestro you will be able to do all your own tuning from then on.

Its what I run in my B6 A4 and have had no issues.

Thanks for the recommendations, everyone.

I decided to head to AutoXtrem in Gatineau (QC) to get my chip flashed. He's the sole distribution for Tapp on the QC side and, seeing as I've had some bad service from Tapp, I'll try out his Quebec counterpart instead.

FYI, RJ Motors don't do chipping/flashing anymore... only persons in town that do it are Tapp or Kompressor Kanada (KK deal with GIAC and such).

Thanks to those who helped out... I did end up getting the Tapp programming to my ECU. I got my Stage I reflash and my car flies, it's retarded.

Hey Guys, I've got a 2001 audi s4.... Its the sedan, its black with the alacantara suede interior. Its also 6spd manual. This is my first post so forgive me If im doing this in the wrong place lol but im just trying to find someone to respond to me lol. I want to do some upgrades to my car... I'm thinking about installing a short shifter. I also want to do a Chip and Exhaust... but I was wondering how bad is the chip for my car? Its only got 110,000 Kms (not miles). Its still a baby.

Basically I'm wondering what chip to go for?
What exhaust to go for?
and how bad the chip is for my car?

Right now im looking at an apr chip, and a neuspeed exhaust... thats all RPI tuning in richmond has.

Thanks so much in advance guys

Shawn

Hey, welcome to the Audi community... hope you enjoy your car as much as I enjoy mine. Congrats on the purchase!

As you aren't from Ottawa, I can't help you out with places you can go but I can share with you my experience in flashing my car etc. Please note that I'm only giving you my suggestions/opinion based on my personal experience with my 01 S4.

The person responsible for reprogramming my car (and he's THE man here in Ottawa) explained to me they no longer favour doing chips, in general. Although you can still buy Garett chips, APR, etc... Industry is leaning towards flashing the original ECU vs. replacing it, not sure what all the reasons are but I know that it's especially advantageous if you car ****s up and they need to reflash your ECU to original specifications instead of re-installing and chip and what not. I flashed my car instead of chipping it and I have no complaints, I'm very happy/satisfied with the outcome. I haven't dyno-ed it yet but I'm running, by our estimation, about 350hp+ with a Stage I flash, upgraded air filter and an upgraded exhaust. (Simply tuning our cars with Tapp's Stage I flash brings it from 265 HP to 335 HP, I saw the dyno info and what not).

The advantage is my car is noticeably faster, my gear ratios evidently got affected, my fuel consumption improved when I drive conservatively and my shifting seems smoother (but that just might be my new 710N valves). The problem's I've run in after flashing were more the wear and tear on the older parts as my car has 140k. I had to replace both my turbo bypass valves (one was leaky and I completely blew the other), as well as the Throttle Body Boot. In all, it cost me 250$ taxes and installation included so it's no big deal. I would also recommending new spark plugs. In all, I'd just making sure everything is in good running condition and do a service check on your car before upgrading your chip, but that's only my personal opinion (better safe than sorry, right? your car is due soon anyway unless you just had it done).

As for the exhaust, I'm running a Borla cat-back on mine. It sounds really nice, not too loud and not too quiet... I only did cat-back, didn't do turbo-back. If you're in the toronto area, Borla should be easy to get your hands on... I'm not familiar witht he Newspeed exhausts available for the S4 but I payed 950$ taxes and installation included for mine.

Hope this helps. Ideally another member will also respond and share his opinion/suggestions. We have lots of knowledgeable audi owners on here.
