Hid help pleeez really annoying

Hello I posted this a really long time ago and never got a good answer back and was wondering if someone on this earth can help me. I installed (A.K.A. MY FRIEND) xenon depot Hid's in my 2000 S4. Immediately the warning light came on and I cannot get rid of it. Is there any cure for this? Could it be i need a different fuse or something? It is extremely annoying and would love to get a clean dash again with no warning lights THANX

The lighting load is inbalanced, giving you a warning light stating your HID's are burnt out, that is if you had halogens before, or went with a higher wattage bulb. I dont have time to write the solution right now but I will Just PM me to remind me!

Your car is reading the HID setup as an open circuit or too high a resistance. (assuming you used a relay). A standard halogen bulb looks like a short to the car. So to simulate that, a simple solution is running a power resistor with a similar rating to a bulb in parallel with the relay. It will get quite hot, so don't mount it to plastic unless you want to make an insurance claim. That's a pretty simple "hack" way of dealing with it. I'm sure there's a more elegant way that does it through coding or something of the like... looking forward to hearing the alternate solution

yes the car had halogens previously, cuz they wouldnt give canada s4's with xenons.
ya if you could please help me out im not that good with stuff like this but atleast if i know what to do my friend could help me out, he dosent deal with audis he's a vette mechanic/tuner

Pretty much sums it up! You dont have to run a secondary bulb as long as you figure out the current resistance vs previous and add a resistor to compensate for the missing current draw.

Maybe already done but did you disable two stage halogen power CDN DRL's by removing the OEM Canadian DRL Relay and install the jumper needed to ensure headlights are fed 12V thru headlight switch? If not then headlights are turning on with IGN but are not receiving full 12V per halogen headlight DRL design and that would be a problem for xenons.

If you do this mod, you will lose headlight DRL while all four corners markers remain unchanged per CDN DRL spec.

One option is to use Euro Assemblies with City Lights powering on with IGN so that CDN DRL bulb count remains the same. It works perfectly when using OEM Xenon Ballasts and OEM Xenon Bulbs for the conversion.

Did that when I installed my HIDS. I think you have to...DRL's run at around 9V and it'll kill a ballast in no time. I still got the burnt light symbol on the dash though. Power resistor fixed that.

Interesting... I did not get the "Bulb Out" symbol with the xenon conversion.

Are you using OEM Xenon Ballasts or ?

Aftermarket. The ballasts are relayed.

Good to note the difference between direct fed OEM Ballasts and relay fed Aftermarket Ballasts. What value R did you use?
