Default U.S. A6 owners in Calgary - who did you use to add the DRL?

I'm going to be bringing in a 2002 A6 2.7 and just wondered if everyone bringing in an A6 from the US is having Glenmore Audi add the DRL for $400 + or have they found a less expensive alternative source?

Default I would like to know too

Hello,

I just purchased a 2003 Audi A6 3.0 from a dealer in Ohio (not an Audi Dealer). It's at an Audi delaership being serviced before departing for Calgary. The service tech down there is trying to activate the DRL's for me before it ships but he isn't having much luck. Not sure why. It looks like i will have to have it done here too. So I would also like to know of other options than paying $400 for what is probably 5 minutes work.

Best regards,

Steve

I wound up having Glenmore Audi do the DRL on my car.
They actually charged me $30.80 for parts and 4 1/2 hours labour ($450). Add to that the "miscellaneous shop supplies" charge of 10% of the labour, so another $45 and then tax on the total, so a grand total of $557.35

I am not looking forward to spending all that money to get the DRL running. Did you have any other mods to make? I am buying the car from Northeast Auto, located in Bedford.

Hey gang,

I have a 2003 A6 2.7T and can CONFIRM that the DRL's on my A6 consist of the fog lights only being on when the car is running. This is what DRL's are for our cars.

BTW - I purchased my car at Capilano Audi in Vancouver when the sales folks at Glenmore Audi were less than helpful... Their service department, however, has been incredibly helpful to me.

Default Daytime Running Lights

Howdy;
This does seem to be an ongoing problem, these damnable DRL's. Every body appears to try to re-invent the wheel by starting from scratch and searching for an effective, simple solution. And I wish I had one, but I don't! I too have imported a 2001 A6 2.7T and need to resolve this. Surely someone has figured how to 'jump' the fuse box, or slip in a relay, or something that allows the fog lights to come on whenever the ignition is on (and don't call me Shirley!). Didn't we do that back in the good old days hot wiring in our 8-tracks?!
Anybody?............Bill

For those that are interested to add DRL to their cars that purchased in US, I would suggest to buy DRL module kit, you can purchase that at CDN-tire or other automotive store
It is easy to connect, to comes with instruction 30-50 minutes to connect everything.
it comes with a module that have 4 wires, one for ground, Second connect to power panel under steering wheel (it requires to remove the knee bolster) so the module powers up when the ignition is on, and third connect to your harness for low beam or high beam headlights, and the forth wire you connect to your main switch and this sense when you switch your headlights on it it gets full power and drl switch off to prevent any short circuit ..

My Audi dealer (in Toronto) quoted me $500 per light, $1000 for DRLs. I took it to my local mechanic. He didn't know how to do it, so he took it to that same Audi dealer, and they did it for him for $57. What a bunch of crooks.

Can you elaborate on that last post. Mine & friend? Is this a case of running a single wire to the tpi switch inside the light panel? (That appears to be how you disconnect DRLs so thought the reverse might work)

Was it the DRL module kit that you bought?
