Thanks for the advice so far.....here is a little more background.

I did not buy the car from a dealer (so no return available). It was purchased from an Auction. Also, it was purchased in the USA, so I am not sure if Audi US or Audi Canada is going to be more motivated to help....

Any new thoughts?????

I did not receive a letter but my car has been at the dealer on several occasions since the letter was issued. I also spoke to someone that had the repair covered by Audi. His car is the same year and within a couple hundred km of mine! The only difference was his services were not completed at an Audi dealer. They will be looking at the car next week and I will wait for them to see what they will offer. The dealer has always been good to me and with several Audi's in the family I'm sure we will come to an agreeable solution.

Also, I see in the US settlement incidentals are covered including towing and rental vehicles. Hopefully they will be able to cover that here in Canada as well. I had to pay $176 for a Dodge Charger to drive back home in as I had my wife and 3 month old baby with me and you can't put a car seat in a tow truck. On top of the rental charge it cost $40 in gas to drive 310km!

I had my timing belt go in BC and had it fixed by a non-dealership. Wondered how you and others made out with your claims.

Thanks from Joanne.

Hi Guys,

My '01 TT has about 43,000 miles on it now. I want to do the timing belt, water pump etc. this winter as I don't drive in the snow (much). I haven't got the patience for Audi and because of this plus a couple other things I think I'll just bite it and spring for the costs myself. Does anyone have a step by step on the process (preferably with pictures) as well as a parts list? I have a great mechanic but not familiar with the TT so would like to give him all the help I can. Also an opinion on Audi parts vs. after market parts would be appreciated.

This car is fun but can be a bit costly at times, decisions...decisions. Enjoy the cold if you live in Canada and the sun if you live elsewhere. It'll soon be droptop time again (which also still needs to be fixed) but I'll get there eventually.

Many thanks folks,

Warren
