It's funny, when I went to Detroit and met up with joey, beemercer and 91GL, my car was the quietest of the bunch by a longshot.
beemercer's car has 2.5" catless downpipes and 2.5" custom catback
91GL's car...well it's just absurd. JHM headers to basically straight pipes. No mufflers...just 2 little resonators, which are just there for show so cops won't ticket him for not having mufflers. When it starts up, or he revs it, it sounds like a gun going off. It scared people everywhere we went. It sounds fantastic though. There isn't a microphone that can harness the sound without getting overwhelmed.
in the first vid, notice the little rev he does right at the beginning of the video. It's that noise that wakes the dead. You can hear a dog bark at his car right after
JHM Intake Manifold
Porsche front BBK (Brembo 6 piston with JHM light weight rotors)
Lightweight Battery
If necessary a JHM stage III clutch and a lightweight flywheel, but my clutch is pretty solid as is.
Finally I'm looking into a supercharger for the car. It's still a ways away but I have heard rumours of a JHM supercharger. The PES and VF superchargers for our cars just don't work unless you're looking for about 80hp over stock and absolutely no more performance (the M90 supercharger is a horrible choice, and acts as a huge restriction).
Who knows how long this will take to complete, but I've got patience. The car is plenty fun in its current form.
Here is my youtube channel with a few videos of the exhaust. Sounds best with headphones in order to get the full sound range.
changed mind on the brakes...a friend offered me a spanking deal on a set of JHM LightWeight front rotors. They're only 15lbs each, vs. the stockers at 25lbs. Reducing 20 lbs of unsprung, rotating mass is a boon for freeing up horsepower.
Lightweight wheels would be another nice compliment to this. My 18" VMR708 wheels + Michelin PS2 in 245 trim weigh about 48 lbs each. A 20lb wheel + 22lb Michys would be 42lbs....reducing another 24 lbs of unsprung, rotating mass. Of course finding solid looking wheels in these weight specs will be tough (without spending $5000). I think rather than spending $5,000 on that, I'd put the money towards adding a 150hp with something that goes WHEEEEEEEEEE WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
