Hey guys one of the key's battery on my 2002 A6 2.7t had died, and after I replaced the battery I reprogrammed it. In the process I mistakedly deprogrammed and reprogrammed the other remote. Problem is, originally they keys used to put my drivers' seat and mirrors back into memory 1. Now it doesnt do this. Any advice????

I'm not following you well. What do you mean reprogram the luxury settings? Move the seat back and forth then press and hold "memory" and "1" simultaneously for 3 seconds? If not then how?

(This is a response to the first post in this thread)

Thanks for the tip ... although it did not work outright because we only have one key, with a bit of experimenting we managed to reprogram that single key (the car we have is a 2003 A4 1.8 Convertible):

- Put the key you want to program on the ignition and turn it one step
- Press and hold the UNLOCK button on the key
- At the same time press and hold the UNLOCK button on door - hold them both for a short while
- We also repeated the same with teh LOCK button, but not sure if it was required

Now all 3 functions: LOCK, UNLOCK, BOOT (TRUNK), work fine

Not sure if the above process is exactly as described because I was experimenting with several things but the general idea is there.

By the way, in our case the control stopped functioning when the key case opened slightly while trying to fit a key ring - obviously that disconnected the battery.

Finally got around to doing this.

Got part 1 done! Lock/Unlock works. Thank you for that.

No joy on part two though. Can't get the immobilizer sorted out. Is there any possible way to retrieve the PIN number? I've got VAG. I can see the tools there. Just can't get past the PIN number. Do I just need to call Audi America and see if they can send it to me? After that big lawsuit they may very be willing to pony up that info. Any thoughts on that?

Another person who has problems with simple instructions here...

We recently bought a 03 A4 4.2 but it only had one key. I bought a second key off ebay and had it cut locally.

I tried programming the new key - there are a bunch of ways listed on the internet but none of them worked.

The new key will start the car and it runs but there is a warning light with a picture of a key on the dash. The new key does not remotely do anything and now the old key does not remotely do anything either!

I was planning on getting VAG COM with the KII-USB interface but it sounds like I need a pin number before I can go that route - is that true? Is there a way I can get the original remote working again without VAG COM?

Dave

7 pages here and still much of confusion.

Summary:

There are 2 (two) features that involve(require) key reprogramming:

1.REMOTE control – the procedure is described in EVERY User’s manual.

2. IMMOBILAZER – requires SKC (Secret Key Code).
Unless one has it – no VAG-Com helps. Provided by the dealers, not released to the costumer, not kept in dealers archives.

If your car has an IMMO => dealers only to reprogram.
