Whining/howling noise when I lift off the gas pedal
2011 Q5 2.0T, 2500km into it, noticed that noise since about 1800-2000km. When I take foot off the gas pedal, it makes this strange whining/howling noise for 1 sec and then disappears. It makes it when cold or warm - that seemed to make no difference, and its happening 90% of time when take foot off gas.
Any idea what I might be against there? Could it disappear by itself later since car is new? Anyone had that happening?

I hear the same sound. Just when I release the gas pedal for a sec or two.. not sure what to make of it.
I also hear a sound when I first open the drivers door. I keep my Q in my garage so it's quiet there and get to hear every sound the car makes.

Hi Rocco:
The sound you hear is normal. That's the sound of the instrument cluster and the computer starting up in response to you unlocking the door. I hear it too.
As per the other sound it's doesn't seem normal a trip to the dealer can't hurt.

My wife 335xi does a similar thing when I approach the car in the garage with a convenience key with me.

However, other one might be not. I'm somehow glad that you experiencing that too (don't take it the wrong way). Since our cars are new, it might be the case that it will correct itself down the road. If I'm not an isolated case, then that cold mean that it's still braking in.
At least I hope so....
Anyone else with new 2.0T with similar issue?

Its really hard to diagnose a noise without being able to hear it. It could be anything from your driveline, transfer box, front axles, torson diff, rear diff, there are tons of things. If you take it to the dealership for inspection, or if you have access to a lift, have them take it up to speed while on the rack and listen for the noise from below.

Almost 10k right now. I could still hear it this morning as I was driving to work, but I find it has diminished over time. I'm thinking it's because our cars are new and are breaking in.
Perhaps all Q5's have this sound but drivers don't notice it. With the radio on and exterior traffic noise, it's hard to hear it. The good news is that it did diminish for me. I may take it in when I get a chance.
