Default us 2012 q5 import - DRL help

Hi,

I am going to import 2012 Q5 from US and came across following requirement from RIV web site. Us dealer is willing to help with reprogram but they do not seem to know how to do it. Anyone imported 2012 audi lately and how did you deal with the DRL that can be turn off through MMI? Does inspection center really go into the MMi interface and test disabling it?

Or is there an instruction of what to? I can send it to US dealer.

Thanks.

Some U.S. Audi vehicles may be equipped with a Multi Media Interface (MMI) system which can turn off the Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs) while vehicle is in motion. In Canada, DRLs must be permanently on once a vehicle is in motion. The DRL control system of such vehicles may need to be re-programmed to disable the feature that permits turning off DRLs. Contact an authorized Audi dealer for more information.

No the inspectors won't go through the MMI to see if you can disable it, but most likely you will have to enable the DRL though vag com. Dont quote me on that but thats a option to try out.

To the original poster...did you ever manage to get this done? We are looking to import our 2005 A6 to Canada from the US and are having trouble finding out how to disable the ability to turn the DRL off.

the 2005 will have to be recoded by a vag-com. I am sure you can find someone local to do it. It takes about 5-10 minutes to do, no rewiring should be done its just a coding issue.

Yes, you have to change the code from US to Canada. It might be in Central electronics, (09) then coding.
This is for the a4 but should be same for your car

I went to Canadian tire and they just asked if the car has DRL. They will not go into MMI and change any setup.

So do not worry about it. Just enable DRL and you are good to go.
