taking her to the doctor

Re: taking her to the doctor
My Q5 was in for service yesterday. It was in for the 8000 km maintenance as well my complaint about the starting issue. I knew that my car had thrown a misfire code before I had it in which may or may not have been related to the problem.
The service department technician checked the spark plugs and finding no fault there called the Audi tech line to look for any further information. The tech was advised to update to the latest software update (which should come up as a recall for your car when you take it in for service) and perform an adaptive road test.
I have started the Q5 six times since the work was done and it has started perfectly each time.
I suggest going back to your dealer to tell them there is a solution for this issue. If not, go to another dealer. Using the other key won't change a thing.

Re: taking her to the doctor
...aaaaaand it's back. Happened to be at the dealer late on Saturday afternoon. Shut the car off to go inside for about 30 minutes. Went to start the car again and it did the same thing, not starting. Left a message with the service department. Another appointment and we'll see what happens.

Hey Regina_TTS it happened to be again yesterday!. Now trying with another key as what the service person suggested. Problem only occurs when I drive it out and park outside for 2-3 hours (especially at night). Probably like what you said it's to do with the cold temp. Hope more people will post about this issue if they are having the same problem.

Re: taking her to the doctor
So this Friday 2 hours north of Toronto, it was minus 12 with the wind about minus 18. I left the car outside covered under ice and snow for about 6 hours. No issues starting up.
One thing to note is that I have the key less option so I don't use the remote in the car, is it possible you have a faulty remote FOB?

Good luck and whatever you do, don't let them tell you this is "normal".
When I picked up my Q5 on Saturday morning Sep 18, 2009 that night the car was about 6 hours old I took it for a drive, temperature was around 12 degrees. I got out of the car and noticed "inside" the fancy headlight unit there was condensation. WHAT??? Are you kidding me? I took it to Audi they told me it was NORMAL? I didn't know if I should laugh or cry at this statement. Anyways I walked out and got so pissed off I took it back in. I said if this condensation freezes in the middle of winter and head light cracks are you going to cover it under warranty they said yes. When I asked them to give this to me in writing they refused.
Mean while they said we'll take your car in again and have a look. They did looked it and said it's normal there is nothing we can do. Funny thing is since then it's NEVER happened.
Conclusion: They fixed it, something was wrong but they will NEVER admit to it. So keep taking it in, it will get fixed but they will NEVER admit something was wrong.
