Re: Swapping brake pads...
Today I took my wife's Tig for a ride, what a difference in brake noise, not to mention brake dust. There is nothing on rims, and there is NO noise from brakes. I just can't believe that Audi did put such a shity brake pads on Q5, what are they thinking! Didn't they test it! What a shame.
So far, only solution is to swap them.....

Seriously though, glad to hear you got it worked out. OEM brake pads are usually crap on any vehicle <$100K., and I swap them out of my cars as soon as I buy them. On regular passenger vehicles, every part of the car goes through the bean-counting department, and if they can cut costs on it, they surely will.

Re: Swapping brake pads...
I've had my 2011 Q for 1 year now 30k and never ever had one squeak.
As for the break dust, ever since I applied Armor All wheel protectant , my wheels get alot less dirty as everthing gets repelled off. Also alot easier to wash too.

This is crazy, I'm so pissed with this isse. Does anyone know, is there some special brake grease that I could ask dealer to apply?

Re: Swapping brake pads...
I had my 2010 Q5 for a year now as well. I have under 8500k.
Since I got the car I had the problem of squeaking. I recently went into the Audi dealership to ask about the squeaking problem. They said that they could modify my brakes to make the squeaking stop.
As for brake dust, I bought this spray from costco that removes brake dust easily from the car. it costed $30 and came with 3 bottles

If/when you do this. See if you can scan and post the dealer's work summary paper the one you get when you pick up the car. I want to see exactly what they've done.

Re: Swapping brake pads...
At my 8km service, I complained about a creaking noise from the left front brake on gentle stops with my 2011 Q5. The work order says "Modify front and rear brakes as per TSB#2017130/9." It seemed to involve two hours of labour.
The bad news is that my creaking noise returned within a week or two, although it seems quieter. The good news is that I have never had the brake sqeaking that some of you seem to experience.

Re: Swapping brake pads...
They're just going to chamfer the pads and/or apply grease/anti-squeal. Assuming they're not replacing a defective part, there's not really anything else to do aside from a proper installation. I could have sworn that I posted this all before
