Rough starting 2011 3.2 Q5

Re: Rough starting 2011 3.2 Q5
Got all six injectors replaced. Again the dealership was saying it's a fuel quality problem and to use an injector cleaner every two months to keep the new injectors/fuel system clean. Still makes no sense to me.........any thoughts folks?

Let us know how the fuel injector cleaner works. Personally I think it has more to do with our climate. My issues were always between -5 and -15 degrees Celsius. Hopefully there will be a long term fix soon!

Re: Rough starting 2011 3.2 Q5
I bought a 2011 Audi Q5 3.2 Prestige S-Line at the end of May 2011. Had the car for a week before my first rough start. The car shook and the smell from the exhaust was horrible. Fuel must be getting into the CAT due to faulty fuel injectors. I took the car to the dealer after having 6 rough starts. Two days later I got a call from the service department that they could not replicate the problem and that there were no codes in the system to suggest any issues. I was told Audi would not pay for any repairs if codes do not pop up when techs run diagnostics. Now I noticed the car is having rough starts more often but still no engine light. Guess I'm going to have to video tape when it happens and shove the tape down the service departments throat. Huge disappointment being a first time German car owner. Think is will be my first and last Audi. I don't even have 900 miles yet.

Re: Rough starting 2011 3.2 Q5
To be honest the next dealer will just give me the same run around. Waiting for the engine to have another rough start. I'll floor the accelerator. Let the fuel flood the cylinder, and hopefully some code will pop up. Just pisses me off that I have an issue right from the start and Flemington Audi is playing stupid with me telling me the smell is normal for a new car. Plus, I told them the issue is during starting and not while driving. So the idiots drive it around instead of performing a few cold starts throughout the day.

Re: Rough starting 2011 3.2 Q5
Well add another 3.2 with rough starts (happened only twice).
But our dealer was great and found that the rough cold start condition was caused by the fuel injectors leaking when the car was shut off. They are replacing injectors 1, 2 and 6.

Re: Rough starting 2011 3.2 Q5
So I ended up recording my engine miss fire since the "dealer" could not replicate the problem as I wrote in a previous post. Afterwards I went back to the Audi Service department at Flemington Audi, and was told they would take care of it this time. One day after dropping the car off a service manager called stating there was a leak in a fuel injector in cylinder #6. The faulty injector was replaced and the car was returned to me the same day. Since then the rough starts have stopped but I feel another injector is still leaking. Reason is that the engine seems to struggle for a brand new car to turn on during cold starts. I found another owner of a 3.2 Q5, and we compared cold starts. Needless to say my car did not start as smoothly or effortlessly as his (and his car was older -- 2010). Don't get me wrong the Q5 is not shaking, making noises, etc.... But what it is doing is taking longer to ignite.

Re: Rough starting 2011 3.2 Q5
Easiest way to see of your injectors are leaking is to turn the engine on for a minute or two. Turn the engine off. Read the pressure in the fuel line. Then check the pressure again after 20 minutes. The pressure should remain stable. If the fuel pressure drops.... You have a leak!!!

Re: Rough starting 2011 3.2 Q5
How can you read the pressure in your fuel line?
I am not sure if I have a problem with mine but I do notice vibrations when I start it after it has been sitting a while and on three occassions is has turned over without starting.
On a seperate occasion it shook badly and was trying to start for several seconds before I turned it off. It started regularly right after.
I would like to try and diagnose it myself before I take it in because I have to drive an hour and a half to get to an audi dealership and they are not open on weekends so I always have to take time off whenever I take my car in.

I'd take it in - sounds like you have it....
