Default Rim Cleaning Recommendations

Hi...I wash my new Q5 regularly but am already noticing small black specs on the rims that don't wash off with soap, water and elbow grease. Just curious what those on the forum have found works well to keep their rims looking new. I have the 19" 5 spoke rims.

LOL, works really well in taking off marks that RIM cleaners don't take off, all you need to do is wet it, comes in pack of 2, real cheap, I tried it past weekend. But don't try and use it on the car body it might remove the paint be careful but perfect for our rims.

So I was washing the car last night, and noticed what looks like a wax or grease that had formed drips along the edge of the body panels around the front wheels. I was able to wipe the beads off with a wet cloth and some pressure. Anyone know what the cause of this is? Anyone else experienced it?

I use Simple Green Max degreaser (1:1 with water) and a rim mit to clean my 2010s-line rims. Spray-rub-wash off with hose. The mit really helps in getting into all the little spaces and keeps the hand decently clean. Also the simple green stuff is environmentally friendly (bio-degradable etc.) or so the manufacturer claims

As a side note on waxing.....I've used turtle wax platinum a few times (yesterday being the latest) and it works really well.

Happy Canada Day

I have no problem washing most of the mess off the rims using water, soap and a wash mit. The problem is very tiny black spots that remain. I tried Warcity's suggestion, but it didn't help. I suspect he may have meant it for general cleaning of the rims rather than removing these specific spots.

Sounds like tar. Does it pick off even a bit with your finger nail?
