My friend owns a Lebeau vitres d'autos, and doesnt want to work on any german cars. Too complicated.

Did you guys in montreal region tried to bargain the price on the Q5 a little?

The first sales person I called told me this: "Why would I give you a discount when the next person I talk to will buy it full price?"

Let's just say I flushed him pretty quickly and called another dealer.

I don't think I got a major deal at my dealer but I got a reduction of $1,545.00 off MSRP. Still much better than what the first goof was ready to offer.

Well let me tell you how it happened.

Once I had made my mind about my choice (Was hesitating about getting new Taurus SHO or a new EDGE or a new X5 (we like the one we had before)), I called the dealer and organize an appointment.

Did test drove the 2.0L they had and was told thereafter about the ordering status and available allocation. He was honnest and show me that his allocation for the 2.0L delivery was already in January 2011 (that was back in late August) but he had 2 3.2L premium left on his 2010 allocation (Novem, ber adn December delivery).

It took me 24 hours to decide and called him back that I was interested. At that time, the allocation for November delivery was no longer available. There was only 1 3.2 left available for Dec 2010 delivery.

I slept over 1 night and called back the next day and put an advance ($1000) to reserve the last 2010 Q5 on his allocation.

We spoke 2 days after and he told me that 2 hours after I confirmed mine some one had called to order the last 3.2L.

Don't know how all if his saying was true or not but he had no interest of putting pressure on me to buy the car.

I don't think I had great negotiating margin.

He offerred some discount on the accessories I wanted installed by the dealer but nothing to call mom about.

That is all I got.

I was reading different posts about deals others got. I consider myself lucky to get over 3000$ discount at the time of ordering. I think timing was spot on for me. I know if I order now- I wouldn't get that much for sure, if anything at all.

Interesting discussion on the remote starters, it's awesome to hear how different dealers are dealing with the issue. My dealer does not want to touch them with a ten foot pole! You would think Audi would have an option to have them safely factory installed and make money on it, guess the marketing geniuses in Germany reckon there's not enough global demand. Btw, tomashek, you got a steal of a deal on you Q5! Congrats.

Cool Re: Remote Starter

I installed a Compustar 2 way with a OMEGA bypass = no issues. Havent installed a car starter myself in years thinking its going to be hard since i've never worked on a German car.

Was one of the easiest installs, Everything is taken care of with the bypass module via 2 wires. I think it was a total of 12 wires i had to hook up. All found in easy to find locations , and locations typically found just like domestic vehicles. Just followed the basic install instructions from the bypass module PDF.

Price of install was less than 200$ Compustar was also a 2in1 Starter/Alarm combo 2 way. SO just a starter might be less wires. And that price is including the bypass module.

Don't fear it, its just all hype

Cheers
