Default Q5 Tires and Recommendations

Can anyone tell me the brand of all-season tires that the 2011 Q5 will come with?
(18" ten spoke rims).

I am planning to buy aftermarket summer wheels and rims, and then will buy winter tires and use the factory rims with the winters.

I'd love it if the dealership would buy the all-seasons back from me as I would have no use for them.

This being said, has anyone else done this for their Q5?

I'm looking at 1010tires and tirerack for my winters... any recommendations on brands? I live in Calgary, so would want a good mud/ snow/ ice tire.

Y not buy the s line-use the 20's as your summer wheels then find an aftermarket 18" for your winters?

Not a big fan of the s line wheels... want something different. Hartmann, also like the lines OEM concept carries.

The 20s that comes withe Sline come with performance tire which you shouldn't ever use in Winter. If you want to put nice winter tires on a set of 20" rims of course that'll do but typically in winter time you want to go down in size. I think for Q5 18" is ideal. I used 18" this past winter and it was perfect.

Yea, I'm still waffling on which rims to get from the factory.

If I get the S-line, I use those rims for my winters, and buy winter tires. Then I'd get some sweet aftermarket rims for my summers, and use the factory performance tires. Sort of the best of both worlds.

I wanted to see if anyone else had any experiences using 20" rims for winter.

Is the rationale for downsizing in the winter so that you have a more forgiving ride?

That's a good idea although the Sline rims are WAY too nice to use in winter time, unless you want the Sline package for the package itself then you can put a nice set of 21 or 22 under them for summer. I know the Q5 can go up to 21 for sure not 100% sure about 22".

Colbe.........got Scorpions from the tirerack.com mounted on wheels........delivered them right onto my front deck here in Airdrie..........saved me 1500.00 from the price RoyalOak wanted (in fact the parts guy encouraged me to buy from them as they can't compete) I used the OEM Dunlops for summer.
The Pirelli's make a HUGE difference in stopping and high speed driving during our famous storms.

I'd like to make a correction to my statement above. The Sline 20" tires are NOT performance tires rather SUMMER tires. Sorry about that folks.
