Q5 Navigation (TRAFFIC UPDATES) in Canada

Re: Q5 Navigation (TRAFFIC UPDATES) in Canada
I called Sirius Canada today, they told me they do not have traffic service at all at the moment. Sirius XM (US) does have traffic but they need a unique ESN. I have no idea where your feed is coming from but it would be interesting to see if you can keep it after the trial.

Audi has no control over this or US subscriptions. It is up to SIRIUS/XM Canada to decide to offer it in Canada or allow Canadians to subscribe through the US.

Re: Q5 Navigation (TRAFFIC UPDATES) in Canada
recap my experience
A month before my Sirius Canada free trial expired, I contacted Sirius XM (US) to see if i could get traffic. S-XM was unable to get traffic, but did give me a free trial period (either 1 or 3 months. The free trial promotion was on their website at the time, and I'm guessing it's still there. i.e. I got the S-XM not because of hassling them, but just because there was a promo). S-Can free trial expired but I continued to get radio (only) from presumably the S-XM. The S-XM free trial ran out last month so I had no Sirius signal. I maintained my email updates from S-Can and S-XM. As many of us have experienced, there were many emails about signing up for discount rates (etc.) Last week I got an email from S-Can mentioning they're giving me a two week trial "to see what I've been missing" (typical marketing stuff). I didn't bother with checking Sirius radio since most of my tunes are on the MMI harddrive. Since I do use the NAV on a daily basis, I noticed some funny colours (what turned out to be traffic flow) on Lakeshore. Since I've been on a quest to get NAV for the last 6 months I was quite delightly, but underwhelmed with the limited data available.
Back to Warcity's point. Since I have contacted S-XM and S-Can in the past, I can't confirm whether the signal is from S-XM and/or S-Can. It's only based on the timing of the last week's email from S-Can that I guess the signal is from them.
I don't plan to contact S-XM or X-Can to identify the source since their infomation has been conflicting.
Hopes this helps.

Re: Q5 Navigation (TRAFFIC UPDATES) in Canada
I just noticed something strange on my Q5 with Nav this weekend.
Pressed the info button when in Nav mode and road closure details came up!
I was in brampton and it showed a list of potential traffic exits and road closures by distance from my position.
ie a closed exit on the 407 7km away, closed lanes on 400 series roads 15km away an so on.
There were over 7 items within a 35km radius.
Info seemed to be provided by something called TMC?
I didn't pay for any additional service, and my current sirius subscription is expired.
anyone know whats up? and will this last?
Also it seemed like the NAV semeed to be getting different information about items in nearby proximity.

This has happened to a few people. It happened to me 2 weeks a go. I still have it. No idea how or where it's coming from. Best not to ask any questions and enjoy

Re: Q5 Navigation (TRAFFIC UPDATES) in Canada
Something interesting happened to me. I get an email from Sirius Canada saying "my two weeks trial has ended". Interesting thing is I don't even have an account with Sirius Canada - my subscription is coming from Sirius US. But at the time I got this notice that when the TCM info stopped coming. So you're right it is coming from Canada.

Re: S5 Navigation (TRAFFIC UPDATES) in Canada
I recently bought a 2011 S5. A US car but I live in Canada. Signed up with Sirius Canada for a radio subscription and noticed the traffic reports and highlights on the Nav Map. After a few weeks the traffic reports quit so I called Sirius Canada. They told me my car is not capable of receiving traffic info. I told them I had it for about a month and they have no idea how it was started or why it quit and are not able to restart it.
