Q5 Fog LIght

Q5 Fog LIght
Hi All: So I've had my Q5 for 2 months now. I HATE the fog light output, it's cheap looking and it's not bright enough. Any one has any idea how to change the light bulb and what type of bulb it uses? I think it's H11. I really don't want to mess around with such a perfect car that doesn't need any modifications but these lights are just awful.

H11.
according to instructions in a german forum:
- take the two large screws off
- pull connector
- take off luminary bit with 1/4 turn
- put new in and reverse steps
I hope this is helpful.

Re: Q5 Fog LIght
Just an FYI if you replace the stock fog bulbs with a higer or lower wattage you can easily get an error which will drive you crazier then the stock lights. The only other option really is to go with a full ballast setup and xenons.

Re: Q5 Fog LIght
Hi folks: Thanks for the input. They are H11 bulbs (same as most Japanese). The next challenge is to find LED Amber with same WATT power. White LED is common Amber isn't.

Re: Q5 Fog LIght
I have successfully found LED Amber H11 fog lights from a ebay power seller who is in Toronto. I am going to meet him this weekend and pick up the bulbs. The fog lights are not connected to the computer so error is not triggered. I am going to install it and take instruction an post it for those interested.

Hi All:
I met the guy and installed the Amber LED fog lights. The color wasn't strong enough so I went with white. It is so incredibly easy to install new bulbs oh and the fog light IS NOT connected to the computer. I tested this.
I will post instructions by later today or early tomorrow.
I have also changed all the ambient interior lights to LED white. No computer error. It was very very very easy took me about half an hour, it was easy to replace with NO damage to the car or any of the components.
Just for fun, I rolled under the rear bumper to see how easily we can remove the revers lights (to change to LED). Don't bother, it's behind the frame of the car (see the pictures) and cannot reach it by hand. We need to remove the bumper which I will NEVER do.

Re: Q5 Fog LIght
Hi All:
Couple of things I'd like to clear up. **THE FOG LIGHT IS INDEED CONNECTED TO THE COMPUTER** After 24 hour of driving all the suddenly the computer went off on the LED fogs. After some investigation turns out LED input isn't as high as it should be going back to 1move's point above (thank you).
I am meeting the guy again to give him the LED's back. I am going to HID. HID has the same input and of course much much brighter. I'll post up a picture of it. It's very easy to install and I have confirmed doesn't mess with warranty at all.

Re: Q5 Fog LIght
I can certainly buy yellow halogens and save a crap load of money, issue is this dude doesn't have any and I have to go with him because I have to return the LEDs that triggered the error. I'll see how it goes tonight and let you know.
