Congrats and please post some pictures.

The 3.0 engine is awesome. Wait till it comes on the SQ5 coupled with the DSG tranny, there is a magic show.

The Fuel saving mode is cool. For everyone else you can activate via vag-com on any model vehicle.

Oil Burning: The 2.0L is a turbo, the 3.0L is a super charged engine used also on the A7/A6 and S4/S5. There won't be any oil burning at all.

I am personally not a fan of the stop/go feature at all but I am sure it saves lots of gas.

Good luck and enjoy.

I have a 2011 the Q5 with the two liter engine.
When I was buying the vehicle I had the opportunity to drive both the 6 cylinder and the 4 cylinder car for 1 hour each, city roads and highway speeds.

What I felt was the 4 cylinder with the 8 speed transmission smoother on the hwy. The 6 was OK but to me not the same on the hwy not to say it was not good just not quite the same. In the city the 2 liter engine is a little more throaty on the noise side but not excessive and never lacks power or turbo lag when you want to punch it up an notch. Since most of my driving is hwy and city mix I chose the car that suited my lifestyle of moderate driving along with power. I could not see any any gains to the 6 cylinder vs the 8 speed transmission which sold me and it was not a matter of cost. If the 6 cylinder had the 8 speed transmission I would have gone for the 6. The top end speed and getting to hwy limits or beyond is not an issue in the 2 liter. The mileage I get calculated to miles per gallon on actual fuel used on 100-200 kilometer trips has been 28.870 miles per gallon in a recent test. Sorry I like gallons vs liters, old school. The mileage in mixed city hwy has been about 24-25 MPG.

My neighbor has the Q 5 6 cylinder and he has just made a trip to Winnipeg from Ontario. His hwy fuel consumption gave him about 810 kilometers per tank so I would assume there is very little difference on the hwy perhaps 3 MPG less if that however I can't attest to his record keeping for the trip and don't have the experience with the 6 to say that's what it is.

As for oil consumption in my 2 liter engine. I have never had to add oil and I change oil every 5000 kilometers. I think both engines perform quite well and if someone had doubts go for the 6 cylinder or base it on your driving needs.

Now if only Audi would have put in a two liter diesel 8 speed transmission instead of the Q 7 diesel engine that would have been a mileage maker and perhaps worth the extra cost for the diesel with enough torque to move this car. Ah well only in Europe.

The new 3.0T is a substantially different (better) engine that the 3.2 6 cylinder you were test driving

Is there good reason to expect the 6cyl's endurance to be better than the 4cyl? How tried & true are these engines?

My preferred configuration is at the Premium level, in which case the 6cyl is only $3k more expensive, and I am quite impressed with the reported gas mileage for the 6cyl.

I would go for the 6 cylinder version. I was out of touch with the updates to the transmission. No question go for the power of the 6 the mileage won't be much less if at all compared to the 4 cylinder. Thye 8 speen transmission is silky smotth from my experience.

Detroit Auto show.

Does the world really need another high-performance SUV? Fans of Audi's best-selling Q5 will be thrilled to know the company is launching a tweaked out and more powerful version. The SQ5 takes the supercharged 3.0-litre V6 found in uplevel Q5 models and basically increases the boost. New power levels of 354 horsepower and 347 lb.-ft. of torque are significant jumps and allow the SQ5 to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 5.3 seconds. It's also been lowered by 30 mm and has stiffer springs and shocks, along with 20-inch wheels. Visual changes include platinum grey trim pieces, chrome mirrors and unique colours. No word on price, but we'd expect little change from $55,000.

I'd love an SQ5 but not on the existing body. Current body is from 2009, due for a redesign really soon.

My research found that the current 3.0TFSI zips from 0-60 in under 6sec ... I wouldn't consider 5.4sec significant unless I was dragging for the pink slip

Is anyone still calling the SQ5 a "crossover" ... or is Audi simply addressing the many comments of the Q5 being a "soccer mom's car" (... which I don't adhere to at all!)

just my CA$0.02
