Re: Oil consumption on 2.0T
Here we go!!
Called Audi Canada about the oil consumption issue, they advised me to book an appointment with my dealer to perform an oil consumption test (at my expense). Based on the findings of the test, they will determine next steps.

Re: Oil consumption on 2.0T
Apparently, issue with 2.0T oil consumption only applies to 2009-2012 model year…. I had 2011 and after about a year I started developing issue. Was topping it up right up until trade in… On the bright side - it was done free of charge by my dealer.

Re: Oil consumption on 2.0T
Got a Q5 2011 last week. Apparently it has the same "oil drinking" problem - I had to top up the oil (up to 3/4 max level) and after 500km the level dropped at half (~1/4). Does Audi cover at least part of the repair costs? I definitely don't wanna pay ~$7K for it.
Mileage is about 92,700km.

As far as I know Audi won't cover any repair cost, at this is not brand recalled issue….
Do they at least top it up for free, or reject - excersising "out of warranty" clause?

Re: Oil consumption on 2.0T
I did not ask them for "free top up" But I will ask them next time.
The next question: what about potential engine damage if the issue won't be fixed? Let's assume I don't mind to add oil on regular basis, but what about engine's health?

Re: Oil consumption on 2.0T
Well, this was precisely why I traded it in… I was concerned about engine long time run and couple other things. I considered extended warranty, but that was 5k or so, so I made decision to get rid of it.
I got oil consumption test and it helped me for about 10-15k, as they replace some seals during the process. However, my dealer never mentioned engine overhaul...
For the most part - it was great car, it's just sad that couple quirks derailed it…

That's right, during the process - they replace some seals I believe, as they can't re-use them. That patches the problem, but doesn't cure it, and they know it. As rocco_ca suggested, complete engine overhaul will.

Re: Oil consumption on 2.0T
Just got my Q5 back from the dealership...will need to bring it back after 1000km for another assessment and based on those results will determine next steps (referred to as "stage 2"). No charges yet...but will keep you posted.
