Oil consumption on 2.0T

Re: Oil consumption on 2.0T
Update.. ever since I had my Q5 engine serviced for the oil comsumption, i've driven almost 7000km and no computer message to top up. Checked my oil level and it's 3/4 full.
I must say, i'm impressed they were able to fix the problem; -but on the other hand I bought and paid for a new car and there was absolutely no excuse for the engine burning oil at that level. I saw what they did because I went to visit while my baby was in the shop. They completely stripped the entire engine and replaced pistons and nearly everthing else in it. I know because the mechanic working on my car showed me all the old parts that he replaced.
The piston heads shocked me the most as they were completely covered with this tar like residue. Had they not serviced it when they did, probabley would of burnt the engine.
Overall experience was okay, they treated me real nice, were sympathetic and managed to fix the problem. But for me I'm disappointed in Audi, I expected alot more from them.
However, I still love my Q5, drives like a dream and nothing compares or comes close to the overall driving experience.

Re: Oil consumption on 2.0T
The fact about the 2.0t is that they surely know what the problem is but they won't start a recall on it cause they would have to replace every 2.0t engine sold between
2009-2012 cause they all have the same problem whatever the model, A4, A5, A6, Q5. For myself, I just sent them a formal demand notice, and if they don't replace my engine, I will be calling a lawyer and start a class action on them. Just know that this problem is a production mistake and no customer should pay for their mistake.
And I think we are a couple of ten thousands stuck with this horrible problem, just don't let them win the case, THEY HAVE TO PAY!

However if there was a class-action in the US that resulted in warranty extension there, usually they eventually apply the same thing here even without a Canadian lawsuit filed. How long ago was that decision made?

Re: Oil consumption on 2.0T
Apparently only cars with engine code “CAEB” are affected.
I just purchased a 2009 A4 Avant with 50,000 KM and no apparent oil issue with engine code "CAE". I guess I'll find out if there are any issues shortly.
125,000 units in the US were affected by the oil consumption issue. No idea about Canada.

Re: Oil consumption on 2.0T
The class action suit was settled by Audi of America and the settlement takes effect on October 20th, 2014.

Now that our friends to the south have done much of the hard work please join the Canadian movement. You can register at a4b8oil.ca and also view the US settlement there. Audi of Canada needs to rectify this issue with their 2009-2010 2.0t engines. They should also compensate all owners who have paid any costs out of pocket to fix these defects

Re: Oil consumption on 2.0T
Just hit my 25K service, zero issues with my 2.0T
Kind of funny though, the next service desk over there was a lady complaining her car was consuming 1L of oil a week! lol
