Smile Lucky Me?!?

Greetings... First poster here. I've been lurking for quite some time. Finally pulled the trigger on a Q5 TDI last week. For a variety of reasons, I decided to buy the Q5 instead of the Touareg TDI.
Anyway, I bought a TDI S-Line off the dealer lot, had it for one day and got a message on the dash indicating that the steering was defective and the car was not safe to drive. The car gets towed back to the dealer and I'm informed that the steering rack needs to be replaced. Hopefully this will get fixed and everything will be good.
This is my first Audi and I hope I didn't make a terrible decision!

Is it still under warranty?
Audi's are pretty solid. Of course, every car maker comes out with an oddball car, ever now and then but overall, the engineering and design are above average. Enjoy your choice, you made a good one!

Let us know how it goes and post some pics.

Greetings and WOW I hope that's the only thing that goes wrong with such a nice car.

Thanks for the replies. I neglected to mention in my post that the Q5 is a brand new 2014. Needless to say, it's pretty disappointing. I've owned many new vehicles in the past but this is a first for me.
I can only hope that this is an isolated incident and my Audi experience will be good in the long run. Will post some pics when I get the Q back in the driveway.

I picked up my 2014 last year, not the TDI though... has been solid with zero problems so far, so hopefully this is just a hiccup for you.

Once in a while something like this happens and it isn't a brand specific thing.. it happens, what matters most is how the dealer handles it.

The only brand I've ever owned with absolutely zero issues has been Honda, I had a Fit and a CRV, each of them with no issues of any kind. On the flip side I've owned GM's, BMW's and Jeep, all were in and out of the dealer at least once a year with a major problem of some sort.

The Audi feels solid to me, I don't think I will have any issues with it.
