Just placed an order for 2010 Q5 Premium w/Nav

Re: Just placed an order for 2010 Q5 Premium w/Nav
Well, I just heard that the train carrying my Q5 from Halifax has finally arrived in Winnipeg! It took 17 days instead of the 10 days quoted by my dealer. After all the delays, my advice to other buyers is to multiply any manufacturing and delivery ETAs quoted by a dealer by 1.5 in order to set your own expectations more accurately.
Anywho, it now seems quite certain that it'll be ready for pick-up two days from now (three if I apply my own advice about dealer ETAs, I suppose). Got my vanity plates ready to roll, so not much left between me and my Q5!!
May yours come faster than you expect, Roby and Grandprix!

They sure are! My Q is due in Early to Mid April. The way I look at it... at least I get three good seasons without Ottawa salt to enjoy her before Jack Frost has his way and she'll be here just in time for Pothole season!

Sure enough, my dealer needed an extra day to PDI the new Q5. But at last it was ready for pickup on Thursday (2 days ago).
When I showed up, the had the vehicle just inside the main showroom. It was a great way to see it for the first time. The Stratos Blue looks great (of the 20 or so Q5s in Winnipeg, it's the only one in that colour - so far, anyway). After a short visit with the finance manager they lent me a 2010 A4 so I could go to an insurance broker to get auto coverage. After a painfully long time with the insurance people I finally got to zip back to the dealer.
They then gave me the requisite tour of the dealership and the service department, and FINALLY handed me the keys. My sales guy (great guy, very knowledgable) then spent at least 60 minutes running through the features of the Q5. With the Tech and Premium packages, there's a LOT to learn!
My first drive (as owner rather than tester) was exhilarating! Smooth. Powerful. Fun. This is what driving is all about. It was worth every second of the 4 month wait.
It's been 2 days now, and I feel very comfortable in the vehicle. There's a lot to learn with the MMI, but I have fun figuring that kind of stuff out.
I now more fully understand the passion and enthusiasm displayed by so many of the other owners on this forum. It may sound hokey, but I consider myself very fortunate to be part of it all.
Cheers to all!

Glad to hear she arrived in good shape and as well the time the dealer spent running you through the bits! I am down in the Peg about twice per year visiting my suppliers She's a great car for the climate that's for sure. Best of wishes for you and her!!!
I travel quite a bit for work, and between the Peg, Montreal and Vancouver I have seen a few Q's on the road. More in Van, but still a few around. They sure are head-turners!!!
Enjoy her! and I am sure I speak for many of us when I say I look forward to seeing pics of her. I always love seeining more Q5's!
