Default DRL dead

Been loving the car since I picked it up in January.. Just got my first problem this weekend and the passenger side DRL is out.. I think it's a common problem so hopefully they'll have the parts to replace it soon~

Anybody else have this problem so soon?

Hmm, never seen a Q5 with a dead DRL as yet. Have you done any vag-com mods in relation to the DRL?

No, haven't done any mods to it but apparently it's a common problem from what I read in US forums. My friend has had the problem twice in a year!

I took it to the dealership last night and they said a lot of the Q5 and Q7 are having this problem. Should take 1-2 weeks to get the parts shipped over~

German cars are known for electrical problems, I guess there is nothing that can be done. I love how instead of fixing they always replace.

48 hours after I picked up my Q5 I see water condensation INSIDE the headlights, took to them they said it's NORMAL. I started laughing so they said there is nothing they can do but when I drove it, it was magically fixed. So in your case once they fix this you'll probably be okay going forward.

Yeah, hope it isn't re-occurring~~ Just saw a thread in audiworld.. Apparently 25% of the ppl have had problems with the DRL..

Oh wow. I didn't realize how big the number was. This is certainly a concern. I am pretty sure in your case it won't reoccur.

Knock on wood. Never had an electrical problem with German cars (and I only drove Oprl, VW and Audi). So far no DRL issues whatsoever. Where do yoi get the stats of 25% from? Does not seem right.

Ah, sorry about that.. I was quite misleading with the 25%. What I meant to say is that 25% of people who voted on a poll had issues (20/80). That in no way is representation of all Q5's since people with trouble are likelier to vote (i assume).

DRL issues? (Poll) - AudiWorld Forums

But the dealer did make it sound like a very common problem when I took my car in. They said it's a manufacturing defect that is they have had to address in several Q5 and Q7.. Hopefully won't happen to any of us again =D

thanks for the link and your explanation

i do not buy into these generalizations (all japanese cars do this, all german cars do that).
