Delay in S-Line, Question

Delay in S-Line, Question
Hey guys,
As most of you already know, there was a delay in the S-line packages, and that has been discussed in detail in another thread. I was originally told my Q5 would be ready on May 2, but am now being told that it has been delayed to mid June.
I called my dealer, talked to him, and I am starting to think it might be a good idea for me just to wait another 2-3 months and get a 2012. It makes financial sense, since after just 6 weeks of buying a 2011 the value of the car will drop by 5-6k. The flip side of it is that I run the risk of prices increasing (the 2012 specs thread shows that ADS is included in the S-line which could make it more expensive). What do you guys think? Will Audi let me keep my deposit if I want a different car than the one that I had originally ordered? I'm still waiting to hear back from my dealer, but I'm a bit conflicted.

Re: Delay in S-Line, Question
I can't see why you wouldn't be able to keep your deposit. Some things that work in your favour:
1. Assuming you didn't order any bizarre colour combos, your dealer should have no problem selling your S-line to some other lucky person.
2. If you're buying a different vehicle, the dealer still gets money from you.
3. I'm assuming the current date (Apr.16.11) is past the date indicated on your purchase agreement. Since the dealer was unable to fulfill their part of the agreement, you will be able to get back your deposit.
Good luck.

Re: Delay in S-Line, Question
Q5 Sline is now available for order for 2012 without delay. I don't foresee any issue with you jumping to a 2012. Your dealer will not have a problem selling your Q5 which will be on the ground earlier, as LMcQueen wisely noted if colour and options are not out to lunch.
Pricing for 2012 is not out yet, but I would assume the new SLine Package would run about $4500-$5000, to be safe. MSRP for rest of vehicle should be about he same, if not exactly.

Re: Delay in S-Line, Question
Make sure you take a look at the 2012 order sheet, though it sounds like you already did. As discussed elsewhere here, colours have been dropped (Meteor & Quartz Grey, AND your Deep Sea Blue for example), and there are apparently significant issues related to getting certain options due to the events in Japan: the rear view camera is one which is apparently not available in the U.S. for current orders. It shows on the CA order sheet—which was released earlier—and I haven't heard of things affecting Canadian orders specifically, but it would be a chance you take in skipping to the 2012.
These things may or may not affect your decision, but heads up.

Re: Delay in S-Line, Question
Rearview Cameras for 2012 are not available for A4, S4, A5, S5, A5 cabriolet and S5 cabriolet. For A6, A7, A8, Q5 and Q7 models with the rear camera option, the prewiring will be done and camera installed at a later time.

Re: Delay in S-Line, Question
Hey Everyone, just to update you guys. I've ordered the 2012 model, with the exact same specs (2.0, B&O, S-Line with the added suspension shifts, Pano, Nav) and it actually came to 100 dollars less. The dealer said the base price did not change in the end, and the S-line did not increase in price. The 100 off is because the B&O is now an even 1000 instead of 1100. So in the end, I'm really glad I waited. Sure, I'll get my car about 5-6 months later than expected, but it'll be worth it.

Re: Delay in S-Line, Question
Haha, that was my ignorant way of saying Drive Select.
I went for the newest colour, the Moonlight Blue, which is just a fancier name for Deep Sea Blue.
The dealer told me that the rearview should be included, but he wasn't sure, and said he'd get back to me.

Re: Delay in S-Line, Question
Well, that's a relief. I thought I missed a check-box on my order sheet (I was apparently trying to collect them all).
Good call on the ADS. I'm glad I opted for it, though it seems like a rarely selected option according to the posts I've seen here.
