Day time running lights Q7
I bought a 2009 Audi Q7 which I'm importing to Canada.
In Canada by law the day time running lights must be permanently on once a vehicle is in motion.
From the MMI I'm able to turn the day time running lights on or off.
I need to disable the option so that they can't be turned off from the MMI before it will pass the inspection.
I have the VAG-COM Diagnostic cable/software from Ross Tech but I need to know where to go to disable the option.
Can someone help me?

Re: Day time running lights Q7
I had the same requirements when I imported my TT in Canada this winter.
Don't worry too much, the tech at Canadian Tire don't know enough about the car to figure out how to switch them off through the MMI. Anyhow here is how to do it properly:
I don't know for sure the difference between the Q7 and the TT but it can't be that different:
Using VAG-COM you go in the Central Electric (module #9) and, using the long code helper, uncheck the option "DRL switchable via menu". For the TT it is on Byte 22 bit 1.
On the american TT, you also have a physical switch next to the headlight switch to turn the DRL on/off. I had to remove the wire at the back of the switch to cancel the switch (and then put it back on after the inspection ).
Some people just put a piece of black tape over the DRL on/off text under the switch to fool the tech at Canadian Tire without having to pull the wire off.
If you have this DRL switch and a round headlight switch this is how you remove the headlight/DRL light assembly to pull out the wire:
Let us know if this worked.

- put the switch in the position 0
- push on the center of the switch. it should go in by 1/4 inch.
- while keeping the center pushed, turn 15 degrees CLOCKWISE
- while keeping the center pushed, Pull the switch out of its hole.
Let us know if this worked.

Re: Day time running lights Q7
I just checked and on my 2009 Q7 I don't see the physical switch next to the headlight switch to turn the DRL on/off
Can someone confirm if the Q7 has a physical switch for the DRL? My guess is probably not...
