So about $72,500 out the door with most of the options (no adaptive cruise, custom paint, rear entertainment or sunshades), freight & PDI and GST. Might be able to negotiate about 2-3% discount and get one for right around 70 but that could be a stretch for the first while. Question becomes is she worth about 8-10k more than a 3.0T comparing apples to apples on the options?

Yup, I agree. If those costs are accurate, one would have to think very carefully about choosing that option. That is exactly what I have done - ordered a 2014 S4 with a late July build. More options included in the price and a known factor for sure. The car should be here in mid September as it is a late July build. Lava Grey with Sport Diff and Carbon Atlas Trim. The only add-ons as I've seen a 2013 exactly to these specs and it's a beautiful machine. Cheers!

What did the 2014 S4 run you around here if you don’t mind me asking? I like the 3.0 Q so much I may go to an S4 in a year or so for myself…

Hi,
I don't mind you checking on $$$ amount, however, there is no firm price on the 2014 as yet. I did drive the Q5 orginally (for about 6 hours actually) and although it is a great car/SUV I just didn't feel the 3.0/272 hp. is as much a fun vehicle. The S4 that I spent considerable time in seems to have better value and certainly better performance by a mile! It is user friendly as well has that option of blowing people away if needed)

So did they at least give you a ballpark number before you gave your deposit and ordered her?
My gf and I also drove the Q5 with both the 3.0 and 2.0 engines and I fell in love with the feel of the 3.0. I’m sure the 3.0 in the S4 tuned up to 333HP rather than the 272 would be more fun for sure (and what 300lbs lighter?)

I have some tuning ideas in mind for ours from a few guys that are working on them now. GIAC has one they released a few months back that adds an additional 108HP and 64lb/tq to the wheels over stock. That should put the 3.0 Q5 numbers into the 380HP/359TQ at the crank range. I’d imagine it would add a considerable amount of fun to the vehicle for the $1200 they are asking for it. Problem is we bought the Q as our practical vehicle, we already have one performance unit (my Jeep SRT8 with a number of modifications) so it makes sense to keep it in the semi-economical range in regards to mileage. Right now our hardly broken in Q burns a shade less than half of the fuel that the SRT8 does (11.5L/100km vs 23ish). We do a considerable amount of summer and winter road trips so I’d like to keep it that way.
A tune would be ideal as long as we could still drive it regularly and see stock MPG – and it looks like most of these tuners provide that option (some at an additional cost).

The 2013 S4 I drove was equipped exactly as I have ordered my 2014 and is around $64,000 all except tax. My hope, after considerable dialogue with GM, is that it will come in around 60. To be honest, we haven't gotten down to sharpening our pencils and fine tuning the final number. This is a car that he had already ordered but we added a couple of things to the order and I have said that I want it. As this is my first Audi, I have been busy building a relationship with the dealership over the past year. I've been an Infiniti guy for the past 9 years thus I'm used to reliability and outstanding service. Hope I'm not disappointed as I set the bar rather high. Cheers

I think the new SQ5 is reasonably priced compared to the 2013 Q5 3.0. The MSRP for my Q5 with most options was $60k. The equivalent SQ5 would be $64.9k. For the extra HP/torque and other handling differences I'm somewhat interested.

I believe you will see more in the +8-10k range vs. the 3.0. When I ran the numbers comparing apples to apples options wise with ours adding freight, PDI & GST that’s what I got.

That seems a little high.

Base Price $50,650.00

With Nav, S Line, Metallic Paint, 20" tires, B&O sound, & Rear Door Sunshades $60k even.

That list of options seems quite similar to a $65k SQ5.

Navigation Package w/ Parking System $3,200.00
S Line Sport Select Package $3,100.00
Metallic/ Pearl Effect Paint $750.00
20inch 5-Arm Design Wheels w/ Performance $1,000.00
Bang & Olufsen Sound System $1,000.00
Front License Plate Frame
Rear Door Sunshades (Sold Order Only) $300.00

Q5 base MSRP is $50,650
S-line $3,100
Nav w park system $3,200
20” 5-arm wheels on summer rubber $1,000
B&O sound system $1,000
Tire Pressure monitor system $350
Total $59,300

The SQ5 Technik base MSRP is $59,600 (according to the link/pic provided in this thread earlier)
Nav $3,100
21” wheels $1,000
B&O $1,000
Tire Pressure monitor system $350
Total $65,050

Difference is $5,750 on above.
Argument could be made that maybe one doesn’t opt for the 21” wheels but I think they are meant to come with the SQ model just as the 20” s-line wheels are meant to come with the S-line model (look funny without).

These prices are without any additional BS dealer charges, registration fees, freight & PDI, and provincial sales tax.

We were able to negotiate $3250 off MSRP when we purchased. Part of that was a Shell supplier discount due to my GF working for Shell. Based on my experience with dealing on the top end model of a vehicle in the past (two SRT8’s) I highly doubt one would receive the same amount of negotiation room on ordering an SQ5 4-6 months before there are any on the lots in the country. That’s where I was getting more into the 8-10k overall difference comes into play. Who knows though maybe they will negotiate on SQ’s and maybe one could get in at only around 5-6k more for her. That would be a no brainer IMO. I love them!
