2013 Q5 3.0 gas vs diesel fuel economy
Hey everyone.
I was about 99% sold on the Q5 3.0 S-line and after talking to someone at the auto show, I'm rethinking things. Here's where I'm at:
Gas: I love the power of the 3.0. Most of my driving is on the highway but I'm lucky if I do 16,000 kms per year. I'm not too jazzed about having to run premium gas but that's the way it goes I guess.
Diesel: I haven't driven the Q5 3.0 TDI but I've been in comparable diesels and the torque is amazing. Where I live, Diesel is about 10 cents less than premium on average. From what I've read, the TDI will fetch at least 33% better fuel economy, which is very compelling.
So, can anyone help me out? What are your thoughts based on the above info? Can you point me to any decent fuel economy info that you've seen? Is the TDI worth waiting for?

It's worth to wait in terms of the running cost but you may need to calculate the total life cost with the price difference of two vehicles (apple to apple). It may depend on the mileage per year and diesel fuel price you get.
