Default 2011 Q5 Single-CD?

Hi all

I'm new here (Maybe this topic has been discussed in the past. If yes, please forgive me.), and am looking for purchasing 2.0T this year. But I just notice that 2011's Q5 does not have Symphony radio (6-disc CD changer). I am not sure if I could have the special order for that feature? Many thanks in advance for your answers!

Regards
Bubbles

Hi Bubbles:

Firstly, welcome to the forum it's always great to see new members and new Audi owners. There is a wealth of information on this forum particularly in the Q5/Q7 side.

The 2011 Premium and Premium plus 2.0 Q5 has the following:

Audi symphony radio features AM/FM stereo with a six-disc in-dash CD player and one SDŽ card slot with MP3 capability. The Radio Data System [RDS] displays several types of information about FM radio, including station, track and artist. Graduated Audio Level Adjustment [GALA] ensures optimal volume levels as cabin noise increases with speed.

From here, if you want to upgrade you'd have to take the B&O sound system upgrade.

The source of this info is Audi.ca

I am certain folks with the 2011 Q5 2.0t can provide you with more information.

Hi B,
Warcity is right with the info on Audi.ca re: Symphony Radio. Unfortunately some of the info on the Audi.ca site may be outdated or at the very least misleading*. According to the site I should have the standard 6-disc changer with my 3.2 2011 Q5...I don't. Perhaps it's because I got the optional NAV (single disc CD/DVD player) which precluded the 6-disc changer. The NAV does have a fantastic harddrive (40 GB) that I've dumped a ton of music on so I'm indifferent about not having a 6-disc changer.
*one item that's misleading is "real-time traffic" with Navigation package Audi Canada > 2011 Audi Q5 > Q5 Features and Specifications > Options
So check with a dealer and get it in WRITING if not having the 6-disc changer is a deal breaker for you.
Good luck.

Hi LMcQueen

Thanks for your message!

Yes, probably I would also add Navi package, so it sounds like it will only have single disc. But I think that's okay as long as the Navi package brings 40 GB memory where I could dump even more music out there than that 6-disc changer.

Thanks again, LMcQueen!

Regards

I have navigation with single cd slot but I haven't been able to figure out how to upload anything to the harddrive. I haven't tried to do it from an SD card but it wouldn't take anything off my CD's or ipod.

Good luck.
For your information there are two systems:
Audi Navigation (MMI Navigation 6.5 inch display) and
Audi Navigation Plus (MMI navigation plus high resolution 7 inch display with a hard drive)

For information for owners Radio Symphony system is the 6 disc changer.
Anyone who has a Radio Symphony and the 6-disc changer that is only on the system slot in many expect special changer and because they think they have 6-disc changer.
All discs are inserted into a slot mechanism. Inside, they distributed a special mechanism.
There are three basic types:
1.Chorus radio
2.Concert radio
3.Symphony radio is a 6-disc changer version in slot
Plus additional options:
Audio Sound System 180W
B & O
Navigation System

With the navigation system comes Radio Symphony

I asked the same question to my dealer when I couldn't find the 6 CD changer in the glvoe box.

He printed me an Audi communique about changes between 2010 and 2011 models.
One of the chnages was the 6 CD changer was changed for the 2 SD slots found under the center console DVD reader.

I'll look in my papers and see if I can scan this document for your viewing.

You can't transfer from ipod to jukebox but you can very easily do so using SD. Give it a try.
