Unitronic??
Is unitronic chips the best or is there a better software company for an 1.8t a4 b6?
I read ( I don't know where ) that 12psi was the best for a K-03 and they say on their website that stage 1 unitronic raises it to 16,5. So I was jut wondering before buying...? And what about those weird g-force 69$ chip on the top google advertising! ugh

Re: Unitronic??
Hi there,
I just got a Unitronic stage 2+ chip on my 1.8t Audi TT 225.
I deal with a Audi tuner mod shop & this was his recommendation.
I like the tune. It works real well & I have better smoother boost.
So I would recommend them plus they are Canadian.
p.s. $69 bucks for a chip or tune will be total crap. Don't go there.

Re: Unitronic??
The g-force is praticly a joke, it plugs on the IAT. Call that a chip. But for the unitronic, about "too high" PSI input should a diverter save the turbo?every weeks someone start a thread on chips and nobody ever come with the same conclusion.

Re: Unitronic??
I've had good experiences with both APR and Unitronic, in terms of the actual software. My DSG flash is Unitronic, and it's probably the one that changes the car the most. Before the DSG, manual mode was annoying and mostly pointless, now it's almost prefect. My ECU Flash for the engine is APR Stage II. Stage I is a huge gain inpower, stage II not nearly so much. Still, I haven't had any issues with either one software wise. The fact that APR lets you change programs from stock, to 91 octane, to 93 octane, to valet mdoe or race gas mode using just the cruise control stalk is a brilliant feature, and I don't think I'd want a software that I can't switch between programs on my own. REVO offers a portable programming unit that you can use to achieve the same results, but that's not quite as convenient. It's great when I run normally in 93 octane mode, but when I get stuck somewhere filling up with 91 octance I can switch the program to that in 30 seconds. Dropping the car off at the dealer for service? Switch back to stock and they'll never know you're flashed! If you keep your eye out, APR runs sales where they sell you the flash with a choice of 4 different programs, security lockout, anti-theft mode etc. for the price of a normal single program flash, ie. $599 I think...if I were doing it again, I'd still choose APR for the engine flashing...
In terms of customer support, though, there is no comparison. APR has quickly and helpfully answered every single email I"ve ever sent them, and then went on to make sure I fully understood the answers and that I didn't have any more questions. They obviously care very much about after sales support. Unitronic has never replied to either of the 2 inquiry emails I've sent them.

Re: Unitronic??
APR = pretty conservative, safe tuning that changes only a couple of things
Unitronic = weird stories. Recently a friend checked out a Unitronic tune and the AFR was all over the place and the timing was ridiculously aggressive trying to make power.
Personally, I'd look at it like this...do you really need to make the last few hp at the risk of a poor running tune? Or would you feel better dealing with a company that has thousands if not tens of thousands of tuned cars running around succesfully?
I have a B8 A4 2.0T and I would get an APR tune on it if I were to ever get it tuned at all. I don't think I'd think twice about it.

Re: Unitronic??
There's a couple "horror" stories on the support from Unitronic. I had to call Dom directly to get some answers since no one ever replied to my emails. And like spleen said, the flashing modes with the APR chip is just marvelous, and thats why I would probably go with APR with my B6 A4. Some say that Unitronic have some more agressive tune where you can feel the difference much more than with APR, but is it really convenient if it isn't safe for your engine. I rather get something smoother and safer!
