K04 turbo help

Re: K04 turbo help
do you guys recomend any places to guy a good K04 for the 1.8T? Im willing to spend the money on a good one. I just saw this for 360 and it made me think even more about doing it now.
APR has a kit with the injectors for 2299. they claim it will automaticly make 235hp with no other modifications....im sure theres a cheaper way to do it then that. but will it really give 235 just by the turbo and injectors...or is that including chipping it?

Re: K04 turbo help
Turbo and injectors will turbo alone NOPE!!!... You can buy injectors for about $300-350 and APR wants $500-600, the K04 you can get for about 900-1200 roughly and this puts you to $1500 in total at the heighest not 2299. APR is known to put bigger HP ratings as the cars tested have other mods too I assume because their numbers are higher a bit.

Re: K04 turbo help
I may be able to get a K04 pretty cheap. With that being said, to put it on the car, what else would be required? just strait plug and play? what other parts should i be taking into account....
Im talking the bare minimum to get it to work properly and reliably. Not some 300hp monster or anything.
Thanks in advance.

If you’re going to pay a shop 12-16 hours to remove & replace your engine to do this job, then it's a good idea to stick in original Borg Warner turbos, unless they're GT28's.
Take your K04 upgrade easy, plan ahead to make power; when you're replacing the turbos you should upgrade or gut the downpipes & put in high flow Cats. If you don't do something about the downpipes while you're in there, you will get a MIL (check engine light) in the future (cat efficiency codes).
As far as hardware is concerned, K04 upgrades need the following:
Turbo hardware such as studs, gaskets, nuts & bolts (not supplied with turbos)
Upgraded RS4 charge inlet pipes (2 each side)
Divter valve upgrade (Bosch 710N TT valve will not suffice)
Replace Y-pipe intake boot (usually crack & leak with high mileage)
High flow catalytic converters
Fuel injectors (depends on software tuning)
While you’re in there might as well replace those primary O2 sensors cause they suck to replace in the car.

Re: K04 turbo help
With that being said, if i continue with a forged DV, FMIC, chiped with injectors, and a neuspeed exhaust, and THEN put on the K04, i should just have to have the car re-chiped to reflect that would i not? And still have the car remain reliable enough to be a DD
