Audi is firming up its manufacturing plans in India
Audi is firming up its manufacturing plans in India
Audi's assembly unit is expected to come up near the Skoda plant in Aurangabad. It is expected to have a manufacturing capacity of 1,000 units in the first year.
A project of this size could entail an estimated investment of 100 million euros. The project is expected to be underway by the end of this year (2007).
Audi also plans to fast track the production by utilising the Skoda unit in Aurangabad.
In the first year in India, Audi has sold nearly 450 units. This year, Audi hopes to sell nearly 550-650 units. Company sources said that the reason to start production from India was to be closer to the market and offer better support.
The official company announcement is likely to be made in next 2-3 months.
