Allroad owners, would you buy again?

Allroad owners, would you buy again?
Hi,
I've recently considered an Allroad but upon reading all of the issues on this forum (and others) on the Allroad, it's made me think twice.
For those with experience with the Allroad, would you recommend it with the potential for issues or would you steer clear of this option? I like the option of a wagon/SUV in a luxurious shell.
How's gas mileage?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Allroad owners, would you buy again?
gas mileage is great - compared to a Sherman tank.
In the city and suburbs I burn 16.3litres per 100Km (14.4mpg) , on the highway ~12litres (20MPG).
to be honest - I never think about gas mileage as I only drive less than 12000km per year. If you do a lot of mileage and need to keep gas costs down- then go for something else i.e. an A4 or Passat wagon with a 2.0T engine, or the Jetta TDI wagon.

Absolutely. It's an amazing ride. There are so many features that just make this car shine.
Bear in mind that the forums are used for people in need of help. Regular threads about praise for a vehicle are few and far between, no matter what car.
For mileage, bottom line you're running either a twin turbo or a 4.2. They're both hungry for fuel to push all that power through it. I don't find it unreasonable but it's no prize winner. It's also a heavy car. All those bells and whistles add up. I think it's good on the highway, lousy in bumper to bumper. Also - some key problems, like the leaky airbags, can now be replaced by after market parts that offer lifetime warranties at a better price. Can't beat that since it's among the more complex features in this thing.
Drive a few. You'll see. It's a sweet car. It feels safe, drives sooooo well, and is a really well rounded luxury vehicle.

Re: Allroad owners, would you buy again?
I haven't experienced milage as bad as reported. My car is a 6sp and normally averages 11.2 L/100km combined and will achieve just less than 10 L/100km on long highway runs.
Have had to replace the front CVs and the odd sensor and switch and thats about all so far.
I would buy another if I needed to.

I am chipped with APR 91
I average 13-14 L/100
but you do have to remember the car wieghes over 5000lbs and is quattro
even my 1.8 A4 used more gas then you would think
quattro is good and bad

I love mine, best car I ever owned and would buy other one in a heartbeat.......oh to own the C6 3.0TDI allroad.
Also APR chipped, and after the initial heavy foot syndrome wore off, I am now averaging 10-11 L/100km with 7.7-8.9 on the highway and 10.8-12 in the city.

white fish, I haven't actually weighed my car, so I don't have any firsthand knowledge, but Car & Driver (Aug 2000) listed the weight as 4219 lbs. Out of curiosity, where did you read / hear 5000+ lbs? - thanks

Re: Allroad owners, would you buy again?
I sold my old allroad in anger(black 2.5TDI), promised myself i would never buy that car anymore. I had all kinds of problems with it (suspension, cam shafts, electrical sh..t) .. but the car itself , when it drives, drives really well and i caught myself looking for allroads again few months after i sold it.. and ended up with a 2.7
In short , yes!
